As far back as I can remember, chrome rims always looked best but everyone seems to go for the painted ones these days. Considering I've been wearing the same clothes for the past ten years, I may not be up on the latest fashion trends. Is that all it is, or does it have more to do with the functionality / wear of painted rims vs the chrome ones?

its all for looks mainly some are performance based like the steel rock crawler wheels. and the teflon coated ones are supposed to resist scratching but other than that is just another faze of fashions somebody started.

Chrome looks good on old vehicles, not so much on newer ones especially since its all fake chrome.

I think its kinda a phase, some trucks look much better with black wheels, bumpers etc. but I do believe most trucks look good with chrome and I'm not talking 20" compton specials. Just a good 16"chrome wheel looks good on almost any truck.imho

Chrome is just dead, its been said, its tacky and it was big back in the day. Now chrome is just associated with being really lame and just not good looking. I'm personally done with blacking out every chrome piece on my truck and it feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders

hah - I will not be putting dubs

Thanks for the insight - I'll most likely be putting on chrome three mods down the road. Was really just curious what peoples thoughts were.

I dont think chrome is dead but I hate it when theres to much like wannabee gangster mobiles. I personally was never a big chrome fan so thats why I went with black wheels. But I have no issues with chrome as long as its used in moderation.

How did I black out the tail lights? I actually ordered the tinted covers for them, just waiting on UPS now.

Should have said chrome is dead to me personally, to me every time I see chrome around where I live its the fake plastic chrome rims/stick on vents/whiper blades and stuff like that. After seeing this over and over I'm just starting to get really tired and annoyed by it. I do agree about chrome looking good on old school cars though, cars that came with it and truly looked good on the car. The wannabes r the ones that really GRIND MY GEARS.

I would like to see a poll on chrome/no chrome, then with an age added to the votes. Everything runs in cycles, most of the folks that are anti-chrome aren't old enough to see that.

I think it honestly depends on the truck, People putting down chrome are being one sided. Some trucks look honestly much better with black wheels then chrome wheels and visa versa.
