I can't buy a straight no gimmick motorcycle. 500 colors and sizes of the same damn sport bike.. 650000 of the same damn cruiser. Farthest away you can get (without going dual sport of which there are only a couple) is things like the ER6n and other cheap sport bikes without clip bars.

Does no one in America really want a motorcycle like the old UJM. I suppose I could get a triumph scrambler or bonneville. But why are they the only one's doing it. How many stupid sport bikes does one need.

Why's everything got to be a gimmick. I just want to get to work.

It's not just motorcycles. I saw a guy at the grocery store this morning standing in front of a 50-foot display of different kinds of bread, like he was totally lost. Hell, I buy diet soft drinks by accident half the time because the packaging looks the same as regular and there's too much to look at.

Good luck in the search. Don't be the bread aisle guy. :)

Just get a used Buell Ulysses, mostly maintenance free, spanks 90 percent of all bikes in the twisties, can run an iron butt rally and finish in the top ten, get 50 plus mpg and take it dirt roads too. Some guys are running up 100,000 miles on the stock motors. I absolutely love mine.

I've had a few buells. They were nice enough. Never had the ulysses don't like the idea of a belt drive "dual sport". But I look like a gorilla on a tricycle on the others. Sexy and performed well enough, tHough that perimeter brake kept warping, and I had to lock-tite everything on the bikes all the time.
the ulysses was ridiculously expensive as a lot of the reviews said. Just buy the BMW.
Currently riding a klr for the most part. Not willing to ride some old drum brake UJM but that's what I want. If I am paying for a car, I'll buy a car, or I'd be on the Bimmer. Probably be a lot easier if I wasn't in hawaii. Used market sucks.

Im not against small motorcycles as a rule. But im over 6 foot and look rediculous and the bars hit my knees.

Perfect example though. Problem is.. No one wants to build a motorcycle with options and fuel injection without a gimmick but bmw and triumph. If they had a tu 750 or a large 250 they seem to physically scale them to the engine. My wife is a 5 foot rider, im unable to put her on a good bike, and im unable to ride a 250 due to size. Thats the beauty of the ujm. You can get a full size 500 thumper in 1982.
The klr works, ive got it outfitted pretty well, and im always eyeing the bmw 1200s.

Ive nakeded a bike before, put on standard handle bar clamps etc.. Actually just thought of one.. The fz6. Thats a good all around moto. I had one for a bit. It was a tiny bit small for me esthetically..but comfortable after it got a higher bar. Too fast for me. It was so well made... It was impossible to get a rise out of. So wheelies were the plan of the day.. And tripple digit speed. Still I may go back to one for a bit.

Anyone ever own a triumph tiger? WHile I'm looking at stupid expensive motorcycles?

Just went to yammy's website. No fz6 anymore.. but the fz6r probably has the same geometry, just extra plastic.. and guess what .. the super TENERE coming to america. So.. well they want too much for it.. but i'm a gunna try one out most likely.

Having owned many MANY bikes of all brands but triumph, though I had one in my garage, it never ran. Yamaha is easily the best built. So, yea, that's got me thinking.
Not too sexy, but all the bmw plus none of the jugs. IF I can get one reserved. Oooh.. I wanna go to the dealer right now. But unfortunately its sunday night AND there aren't any "authroized" dealers in hawaii. But they may be able to order it for me.
