I wish I still had my '76 Datsun pickup.

Gutless wonder but it was a fun truck!

I do love the fact that my truck has a higher resale than my friends fullsize or compact trucks, even if they have many more options.

But its not like I am ever going to willfully sell it so it doesn't really matter. She'll be mine forever:)

And the best looking front end of the mid-late 70s models.

The LUV and Courier were just fugly.
The Datsun was 10 years ahead of Toyota in the styling of the grille and front clip profile... then they fucked it up with the "Hardbody" after the Nissan name change. A lot of good looking vehicles turned to shit when they went to the square headlights.

I wish they were built like the 66 GMC I just picked up for free. The thing is a damn tank and simple to work on. Stop with the bells and whistles geared toward belair neighborhood soccer moms.

LOL... Toyota's square design wasn't bad at all. I loved my '94.

I think the problem was the difference between the US sealed beams and the European housing designs, and the overseas manufacturers making styling concessions just to get the square lights to work. A couple of the designs with the quad rectangular lamps almost looked aftermarket with large flat chrome bezels.

    '73-'79... :D

i know i like the "look" of the newer ones, however i do not like the size. if i wanted a full size truck i would buy one, but i wanted a mini truck like my old toyotas. ended up buying a over priced 03 double cab. if toyota would have just sold me a 85 double cab in diesel i would be all over that and never sell it lol

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
Many years ago I had a 77 then a 79 Toyota pickup. Now I've got one of each a 99 reg cab, 4cyl, 4x4, 254,000 miles and a 2009 quad cab, v6, TRD 2wd. Both stock and great in their own way. I made my twice a year 3200 mile trip to OKC last spring in the 99. Had great mileage and no problems as usual. I just got back from the fall trip in the 09. Wow, what a difference. The bigger truck rides great on the interstate. All the bells and whistles to play with. 2009 Mileage not as good as 99 but only less by 1-2 mpg. Tryed to put homemade truck box from 99 into 09 for trip but wouldn't fit. The 09 bed inside is narrowed than the 99 beccause of the plastic. Daily I drive the 99, when I feel the need for extra seating or "car ride" the 90 comes out. Both great trucks.
