OP only has 1 post currently, and that is knocking on Tacomas on a Tacoma forum. I highly doubt he will even return to comment or defend his fart of a thought.

It is because we like big things in the USA. We own larger pickups than the rest of the world, because that is what people here are in the market for. So Toyota scaled up the Tacoma to compete in the market of midsize trucks.
I honestly like the 2nd gens, but don't get me wrong, I also love my little first gen!
Ford doesn't even make the ranger anymore, same with the Dodge Dakota. Chevy/GMC still make theirs, but I definitely wouldn't have one of those! The Tacoma has no competition.

But what I do wish is that they still had the though-as-nails quality they once did. That DOES NOT mean that they are poor quality vehicles though. They blow the competition away in almost all aspects, they always have.

And in my opinion, the very first tacos had the best looking front ends. Others will disagree, but kids at my school always tell me how good my truck looks. Everyone there who drives a mini truck, wants to own my truck. I don't mean to brag...........but you know.[IMG]

    +1

I'm 6'3" and hated that I was always smacking my knee on the dash of my '94.
Same thing happened a few times in my '03 Tundra.

I was concerned about the Taco, but the only thing I don't like about the ergonomics is the steering wheel is too far from the seat in relation to the pedals.
If I push the seat back enough for my legs to be truly comfortable, I can't reach the dash controls.

I'm used to it now after almost 15k and 6 months... my last vehicle before the Taco was a '95 Suburban. Seat all the way back, everything was comfy, but I could not hold a drink between my thighs.

Short story... Toyota changed the design because that's simply what they do every 5/10/15 years.

I think the larger style of the 2nd Gen is perfect. I don't miss rubbing elbows with my passenger or hitting my knees on the dash & shifter.

As stated before, if YOU don't like them don't buy one and don't assume that nobody likes them. I believe the majority of TW is 2nd gen.

As the previous owner of a 2006 access cab, with 4x and a 6 speed and all the goodies, I can say I am happy to be back in a little truck. Don't get me wrong, I loved the 06, but the 04 single cab I have now is just great for getting into all kinds of things, mainly sand that that a larger truck would sink into, and trails that are really meant for quads. That said, I never did get that 06 stuck, even after I pulled a lifted F150 out that was buried up to it's axles in the river bottom, the same smack talking F150 driver that said I'd get stuck in my stock truck. Oh yeah, and then I pulled the jeep out that he got stuck while trying to rescue :D Each one has it's pros and cons, the new Tacos are much more comfy for daily drivers, and the new v6 is a huge improvement over the old ones. The old Tacos are better in tight spaces, and will run forever if you take care of em, it's all a matter of personal preference.

    Of course.

But rattle can shit sucks no matter what comes out of it.
Except maybe derp, and whipped cream.

    I don't even use rattle-can shaving cream!
