My experience with Toyota Trucks dates back to the late 1970s and includes alot of work on all my Toyota trucks from the HiLux to the first generation Tacoma. First post or not I can voice my opinion based on many years of Toyota Truck experience. I will never buy a 2nd generation Tacoma for reasons explained in my original post.
The responses to my post have explained the reason for the 2nd generation change. But it seems the price of first generation is high due to many others like me who prefer it over the current design.

Check out pricing from Edmunds or any other place you chose. You will not find a 1st Gen with a higher value than a 2nd Gen. However, there are those who would pay more than fair market value, as value is subjective. But don't blanket statement and try to make up facts. Book value is book value.. a 2004 is not worth more than a 2005. Or pick any 1st Gen year... hell go back to pre-Tacoma.. the further back the lower the value.

I don't think he's saying the 1st gens are going for more than the 2nd gens, just that since the 1st gens are out of production therefore making them more valuable since some prefer them.

If something is more valuable shouldn't that translate to more money? Supply and demand, right? And if the asking and selling prices are no higher than book... than what is he going on about?

my 2011 2nd access cab tacoma is 208.1" long and 74.6" wide, a 2004 xtra cab is 202.9" long and 70.3" wide.
a 2012 silverado extended cab is 230.2" long and 79.9" wide.

your definition of "full sized" is flawed. 2nd gens are much closer is size to the 1st gens than they are a silverado.

No one cares about your experience. You prefer the 1st gen, that's fine. Many do. There's a difference between that, and just coming out and bashing the 2nd gen while passing your opinion off on fact. Don't like the 2nd gen, as mentioned don't buy one. No one cares that you're not buying one because you don't like the new ones. I prefer the 2nd gen myself. I don't create a thread saying how much I hate the 1st gen (which I don't). It's a pointless thread to make that serves no other purpose other than ruffling peoples feathers.

Everyone knows facts aren't valid in internet debates.

49% of facts are made up

If you dont like the 2nd gens, as others have said, thats cool, its your opinion. I, as many others, prefer the 2nd gen. And then others, prefer the 1st gens and pre-tacos. Thats cool, each to their own.

    This too
