The windy noise kind of sounds like the clutch, but I couldn't tell you for sure. It used to happen before occasionally right after you start the truck and pull out sometimes.

The tranny was hunting for gears sometimes, but no more than it has in the past. I thought it was overheating too, but never got a dash warning or anything so either that wasn't the problem, or it was just close to overheating.

I'm in to the end, I want to see your truck fixed.

I remember what it was like to be in school. It was great. Still, take a minute to protect your (parents?) Investment in in reliable transpo.

    I know, it sucks "adulting".

    Keep us in the loop.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I gotta get it figured out, but my only option may be missing a class one afternoon and driving down.

I appreciate the support on my fucked up, NEW truck :(

Not sure if I mentioned this in my post, but I actually run my own business with my truck

I'm sorry, but what part of the bold print in post 78 (and some following) did you not understand?

Or maybe more interestingly, why do you choose to ignore it? :notsure:

@steiner9er...I'm going to speak as a Father/Mechanic that put his Son in a new vehicle (with warranty) to go off to "The College That Costs To Damn Much" after he got his AS at Junior.

Since you have obviously not had this "experience" in life yet, it might help your comfort level to bring the adults (parents) into the process. Deal directly with the Service Manager...not just some random commission bumped Service Advisor that won't make a cut. Do not admit to any over weight hauling or towing. You drop the truck off (or have "them" tow the vehicle in if you feel it is unsafe to drive) and they give you a loaner...though they might call it a rental at first. The fix will not happen "while you wait" so it doesn't matter what day of the week you bring it in...and appointments are not required for warranty work. The truck gets fixed, you give back the loaner, Toyota pays the Dealership...end of story.

...or as I would tell my Son, quit f-cking around and handle your sh-t before it gets worse. ;)

He literally straight up doesn’t know what he’s talking about sometimes. I’m a Toyota fanboy, but also a VW/Audi fan boy. He talks about how horribly unreliable the New Beetle Transmission is, but hilariously enough it’s an ASIN 09G transmission made by TOYOTA (facepalm). Second it’s not even that bad in the first place, if you change the fluid every 50k.:notsure:

Hes just an old guy stuck in the past. What he says about Euro cars may have been true 15 or more years ago, but not today.

    Thanks for that advice, yep.

The truck has been sitting around and hasn't been driven at all.

Update for everyone, just dropped the truck off at Toyota. They said they would either get back to me this afternoon or Monday.

He also mentioned that it should be covered under warranty, and I went on my truck instagram and archived all the pictures/vids of me offroading, which I will put back up after they fix it. I doubt they would go on the truck insta, but just in case

    Nope.

First off, I am only 19 and you have to be 25. Secondly, I wouldn't be able to park it anywhere close to my dorm, and it would have to be on the other side of campus. The dealership is about a 30 minute drive, so I had my roommate caravan with me and drive me back with the expense of buying us lunch.

You can legally own a car at 18 in most, but not get a loaner/rental? Never heard of this 25 YO rule before...ever. Either way you have things handled for now...so best wishes on a speedy return.

Usually you can get a rental prior to 25 it just costs more and may be insurance-dependent

Beings its through the dealer, maybe not. I know about 12 years ago I had to prove I was over 18 to rent a car in Ohio. Might be a state by state thing.

Seems to me like the rental should be the dealer's worry, if they have to use another agency, or pay more for coverage for a young driver, so be it.

On another note, ALWAYS take the dealer's rental vehicle, you will notice they have a lot more of an incentive to get you your own vehicle back, done right.
