Moved. I moved from a shit hole state on the west coast to the far north east. Zero worries now. I don't even lock my doors anymore.

Installed the OEM remote tailgate lock so it is always locked when the truck is.

See my post a few back? I had a demo on YouTube but some people there got pissed that I showed how easy it was to pry and break their great idea…

Just don’t want members here to get complacent about it and to later find their tailgate missing with a broken hose clamp sitting on the ground.

American problem? Never heard of tailgate thefts around here. What would you do with it once you've stolen it? Sell it back to the guy you stole it from? Why not just steal the whole truck. Sell it off to Dubai or wherever the stolen ones go. Lol!!

All you have to do is cut the cable, less than 10 seconds and the tailgate is gone

Because thieves looking for easy to steal tailgates always carry “just in case” tools and spend twice as long when they encounter an obstacle, rather than moving on to the next truck.
These are crimes of convenience, make it inconvenient. Especially when it costs next to nothing.

Will check it out. If someone really wants your tailgate, even a lock isnt gonna stop them. Metal hose clamp just as much a deterrent as 50 dollar specialized lock. Stops opportunistic thieves.

I used to drive an ‘81 Citation. Still waiting for one to show up on one of those Mecum auctions. Really special and unique vehicle.

Thats weird... i have this on my '22 3rd gen and it went on with no issues. Tailgate opens and closes with no problems...No idea how it would interfere with the camera lol

What you’d do and what people who are stealing tailgates would do aren’t even in the same realm.
So why even lock it then? A screwdriver or a pick kit are just as easily pocketed. It’s been said plenty but a determined thief is going to get what they want. Make them work for it.
There’s no harm in making your tailgate a more difficult target when they are looking for a ten second job in my opinion.

If you live in Southern California, just make friends with your local gang members and you don’t have to worry about nothing :infantry: and if someone fks with you just call the homies up lol

My dad's ran to about 175K..head gasket started leaking so he dropped in a little of the Stop Leak stuff and drove it another year. Did it again and he sold it for a parts/fixer, still couldn't hear the engine on it.
