Installed the sokietech no drill hood struts. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RW9YT4S?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
    IMG_20210505_093238066_HDR.jpg
    Put on door sill protectors.
Removed the bed stickers. Installed OEM tailgate lock. Had the fuel pump recall done, and they updated the ECU.

The ECU flash is not mind blowing but it definitely helps make the truck more drivable. The gear changes are not as jarring and the pedal is more responsive. I had a dead spot around 25 mph that would take a lot of pedal movement to get it to continue to accelerate. So the truck would almost bog down going up a hill. That is almost gone/takes less input to get it moving. So happy with that.

On a side note has anyone been able to retro fit the power drivers seat into the older models without that option? Had a 2021 loaner while the fuel pump was being done and that was the most noteable thing about the newer models.
Edit: I linked the wrong hood struts, should be fixed now.

Just for kicks I filled up with premium after the ECU flash, and got the best gas mileage the truck has ever seen. :notsure:

It's actually new to us here in Allen, TX so it doesn't need a detail right now. Sucker is massive!

About a 15% increase, but it may have coincidentally been the release of the summer blend gas. :notsure:

@RyanDCLB Definitely not an insignificant increase! That said, that is about what I see with no mods/tunes between winter/summer.

No extra parts needed except for the harness and head unit. Everything will screw back on and fit like OEM. You will have screws left over if you choose a non nav and need to flip the side brackets. No bending, or cutting of any sort.

Just discovered my '17 has the TRD exhaust when I registered it on the app. Its a SR5 I bought used so a bit surprised to see that. Now I want to hear another 3rd gen crank/run that doesn't have it. I have always thought it had a bit of throaty sound but just assumed that was the standard exhaust note.

Found it on Amazon. I don't know how to put a direct link from mobile via the Amazon app, so here's a screenshot.

Thank you! Did you loose or gain any functions? I found Entune 3.0 OEM from Infotainment.com but its so pricey. That's why I'm considering this. Thx!

Dude, yes that is exactly why I did it this way. If you look closely at their instal video they used to use Sienna head units too. So in my head I was like, “F this! No way I’m paying 2k for a head unit retrofit, that’s tires wheels and a lift”.

Gained being modern haha. But seriously I gained CarPlay better bass which is strange, bigger screen. Lost the integrated nav as I got a non nav head unit, and the base screen isn’t as “pretty” until I connect CarPlay. Can’t track MPG via head unit either. But everything else works, OEM mic, sensors, back up beeping, head unit bright when day, dark when night and I turn on my headlights, steering wheel controls. It’s basically what the 2016-2019 should’ve F’n came with!

Thx! Isn't there a Nav ver. HU avial.. Just need a Nav HU specific harness? Did you have the MPG tracking previously and lost it? I'm hoping to keep the Nav. and MPG if possible. Thx

After 3 failed attempts to fix the evap tube on the gas tank, I finally had to bite the bullet and bring it in to have it replaced. The entire tank.
I really can't believe that Toyota would design a gas tank evap hose that cannot be replaced apart from the tank.
Yes, you heard that correctly. It is a fact. All the other ones do, but not the culprit one.

Yes that’d be the 86140-08180 (with GPS)

Those are a bit hard to find at the moment. About 1300 on EBay. You can find them on Aliexpress but I don’t trust that. That’s why I went with the 08190. I still get MPG via the middle screen.

And yes a Nav specific harness. The guys at Autoharness House are very very helpful!
