I drilled holes thru the side of the bed and into the brake light compartment. If the bed is 100% composite, I didn’t drill through any metal. Here are gaps in the bed frame that allow you to o lay touch the composite.

Are you saying the bed is actually metal surrounded by a composite coating? And by drilling thru it, it will rust?

Installed one of those rear pull down bed steps. Toyota factory accessory.

A real nice feature for those of a certain age...... ;-)

I won't bore you with details, they are already posted here on this forum. ;-) Must have taken all of twenty minutes. But it was hot today, so the work was HARD! ;-)

The holes that need drilling are the metal sides that also house the tail lights. The 2 bottom holes are the ones that are used to bolt the bed to the frame and the tie down. Both screw into the frame assembly.

As hard as this forum has been on my bank account, finding out that Runnin 4 Tacos is not far from me and going there to pick up my pop lock for the tailgate is probably going to be much worse. So. Many. Things. I. Want.

    cameraRollTempImage.jpg

In addition to the tailgate lock, I got the tailgate anti-theft device installed (thanks christian06 !) and a little bling.

Did you get new black corner edge pieces or new tape? How about the flares-did you remove it or is the film just slightly behind?

Brush Guard, Rock Sliders, lights, Topper, Add a Leaf, New Rear Bumper
Yesterday for me. I did a practice wrap on the snorkel (looks like crap, but I like the color). So far my Tacoma has sliders, bed cover, brush guard (should I paint it?) and the snorkel I’ve done the AC drip mod and breather mods, it also has neoprene seat covers and plastic dipped trim. It came with the forward light bar which I moved to the brush guard. The only lights I added are rear facing for when pulling the boats out at night. Thoughts?

The only other thing I would want is a tune and a steal rear bumper that does not look boxy, but I don’t think those exist.

That harness came from that bob guy? Might have to ask him if it would do the same on 18
I seen that, you mentioned you didn’t have access and tried by the headlight gap on test subject. But what are you thoughts on personal safety (for the Tacoma)? Does our more open grille and slight wheel well access possible change effectiveness.

The only reason I even considered having something was because of its size but if you say it’s likely be junk even for the Tacoma ill skip the whole thought

DITTO on the fog lights - check your local dealer though - sometimes Amazon ships you the Chinesium stuff. Our local guys have pretty competitive pricing:

I did get it from Bob's Mirrors and believe the harness will work with a 2018, but you should contact him to verify.

As for the fire extinguisher, I bought mine personally to test it. I had hoped for better results, but based on what I experienced with the test, I would not trust it. That was the same evaluation from my chief and the other firefighters present. The 100 may have done better, but I'll let someone else buy that and test it. I carry a 5lb Dry Chem in the back of my truck, but then again I'm old school and started firefighting back in 1980. I still have my tin fire helmet from back then.

I used some stainless carabiners I had laying around. The clip didn't quite open far enough to put them on without taking off the headrest, but it's not a big deal. It also provides the thin section to allow the headrests to go all the way down while still being strong.

And yeah, the first one I made I cut the cord too short for the outer layer. Fixed that on the 2nd one though.

I agree. I did and like the look way better than that awkward black slotted piece. I did mine before my bhlm and it was easy. Did t drop bumper nothing. Was able to get to both screws.
