Got the KDMax tune on Friday. Instantly noticed a massive difference in how it drives. Saturday took it up to the mountains uphill accelerations was smooth with no gear hunting. Best part is the increase in MPG, up 2 -3 MPG.

I did have a problem with the climate control knobs. The little plastic piece that is used to transfer light and point out what the knob is set on would not transfer from the OEM to the MESO Custom knobs. It is too big. Anyone else have this problem?

I can't recall the number but it was the normal setting KDmax.

Jump over the fence lol, I think its my favorite mod that I've done. I have less than 1900 miles on it.

I'm currently leased and my service manager at the dealership is A-OK with me having gotten the KDMax Tune. Actually he helped put me in contact with one of the local tuners out here.

    Too much.
Just circling back (now that I'm at a keyboard).

    Looking up:

    pioneer 3.jpg

I put the unit a little high to be able to use that lower compartment. I have the unit's remote in there.

    Top:

    Side:

As I think I mentioned before, this was installed in to a Non-JBL Premium unit. However, when you order from the Crutch, the dash kit they send you has the front garnishes for both the 7" opening and 6" base model opening.

I have this hooked up to a JL VX1000/5 with integrated DSP, so all of the head unit's high pass/low pass functions are shut off (set at through). I also retained all OEM functions via Maestro i-Datalink. Hope this helps.

Thanks man, that looks great. Sorry if I missed it, what's the model on the head unit?

Nice. Waiting on my Victory 4x4 front bumper and still trying to figure out what to do for the rear. This one seems to check most of my boxes. Fold down table and getting the spare out from underneath are must haves.

They also offer a jerry can holder but I decided against it because I'm going to install a 5lb propane tank bracket there as the need for propane is greater than extra gas.

I've been considering either this or the giant (~11"?) Kenwood with a volume knob on it.

Used to have the Alpine Halo 9 and loved it for the most part.

Any thoughts on your experience with the unit so far?

My main complaint with the Alpine was only having a single USB in and single HDMI in.

I believe the Kenwood models are 10.1" and only have one USB and one HDMI as well. The key here is wireless AA/Carplay, allowing you to utilize the USB for something else. Alpine does not (AFAIK) have wireless Carplay/AA.

I like the unit. I use a JL VX1000/5i which has an integrated DSP, and has a separate master volume and bass attenuator, so I just keep the head unit at 35, and use the JL knob for the volume. The color is fantastic, the display is very sharp. I wish I was able to have a 70/30 split screen in AA, but I'm sure that will come in the future firmware updates. I'm used to the Pioneer UI - the last Pioneer I had was an AVH-X5800BS, and the UI is fairly similar (settings, etc). The DMH boots up pretty fast, and connects to my phone quickly as well.

There is a thread someone started last summer about this head unit here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/pioneer-dmh-wt8600nex.671994/

As far as installation goes, it's pretty straight forward. I do a ton of "pre install prep" so when it's time to actually get to it, I have everything laid out, soldered as needed etc.

The wife and I love going to Canmore as well! We are in WA state and it's a nice drive up. Can't wait to visit our neighbors to the north again. I especially look forward to the Brisket Poutine at the Grizzly Paw!

Nice to know. I did look, into finding someone to tune mine. The least amount of distance I found (online) is approx 130 miles one-way.
I'm not willing to travel the distance.
I'd love to try the tune, but, $400 to "flash" the computer? No effing way. I have a hard time swallowing that for such a simple procedure.
