True! I just can’t think of any scenarios where I would need them other than moving furniture or something. You have to drill them yourself if you want to opt without them but they come separately.

The Front Runner rack system has the same limitations. You can open the Diamondback with the short and mid height versions of the UpTop rack. I have the LLOD setup and kind of wish I went with the UpTop setup.

So you think the miduptop is a better solution? What does it offer over the front runner? He uses a front runner roof rack to bc he gets them free but I think the prinsu is nicer

What the others said. If you put a topper or bed rack on your truck it adds outward weight, stress the bed and the sides can push out. The bed stiffeners help keep the bed sides "square". Not sure if absolultely needed but for the small expesne it was worth it vs. having the bed push outward 3-5 years from now. Plus the holes add anchoring points in the bed.

It has all of the side mounting points that can be used for traction boards or other recovery equipment, etc. You can also add the Alpha EX cap rack (https://www.uptopoverland.com/products/alpha-ex-tacoma-cap-rack-1). I have their cab rack so having a matching setup would certainly look nice and the full height would allow me to throw my paddleboard on top, without sticking out over the windshield.

Nice. The lift and maybe slightly larger tires are next on my list, budget not yet there!

My salesperson at the dealer has nearly the same thing as well. When I bought it I saw his and didn't tell him I planned on getting the ARE MX as well. He has larger tires and a lift, but instad of the Prisnu he has a front runner on the cab and shell. I'm approaching my 5k service interval and when I bring it in I suspect the service guys are going to think it is his upon first glance!

I see your suspensiion listed in your profile, what tires are you running and what size? Did you regear to accomodate? I can for sure notice my rear suspension is a little more squishy with the shell on top. Can feel it a little in acceloration and braking too.

Haha, Tires are KO2 285/75/16 they didn’t really affect the truck. And the spare tire area can accommodate the full spare which is nice. No regear but I did a CVC tune from a guy in the Bay Area and it drives 100% better and gas is back to stock..

Topped off the pink fluid reservoir. Looked all over and saw some dried up residue on the side of the tank where the hose connection between the Rad cap into the reservoir. Might put a clamp on it...

It didn’t fit well upside down. If someone can make one upside down I would totally buy it

Decided I needed an awning. Went with the Ironman 4x4. Price was marked down, and came with integrated LEDs. Installation on the Uptop was a breeze, and deploying the thing couldn't be easier. Not liking the cover color, but you cant have everything I guess.

Looks great i have a 2.7 too, going with that size tire as well was in between the wildpeaks which are a little more aggressive at 43lbs or the hankook dynapro atm's which are not as aggressive but a little lighter at 37lbs. Nice to get some feedback from a fellow 4 banger owner
