I pulled open the upper vent assembly and the section below it with the heat controls etc. Kind of a pain but I then reached down and undid the usb hook up from the lower panel. then separated the guts from the door. I snapped the door back in the panel. Then plugged my USB a to C cable into the separated piece then back into the wiring harness adapter. Drilled a hole in the side of the glove box and ran the USB wire through it. The worst part was un doing the guts of the USB-C port. All in all went pretty smooth. So worth it. It's nice to be able to use CarPlay on a short trip and not have a wire out all the time. I think I'll also use the wireless charger a lot more now to.

Finally got to the hardware store and bought proper connectors. spot light switch had been wired in using twist connectors and electrical tape, since it was a week day wiring job. Decided that was too redneck. went and got some heat shrink wire connectors and a new crimper, since mine disappeared when the wife organized the garage. Wiring is a lot better now and I know it will last longer.

What number have you settled on? I’ve happily used “Sport 6” since April until a few weeks ago. Weird thing, I got my “CC” software updated at the dealership before Thanksgiving and since then I had to lower the “SB” setting to “Sport 3”.

Installed the OEM door edge guards today. Easy install, just line up the templates and tap into place. Thanks to Sparks Parts for the template and Gladstone Toyota for the edge guards. One more OEM install to go, maybe next week. IMG_4367.jpgIMG_4373.jpgIMG_4374.jpgIMG_4371.jpg

Got the heated seats done today! Started it last weekend for the driver's side and all the wiring. Spent most of the time on the hog ties. Got smarter for the passenger side and got it done in about 2.5 hours instead.

    Some of those lessons were:
    1. Don't do it on the floor, you'll kill your back, that's why you have a built in work bench, dummy
    2. Use your long, bent nose pliers to get the new ties under the upholstery rods, not your stupid fingers, and use your straight long pliers to pull the ties through the other side. I felt like a surgeon, and/or Edward plier hands
    3. Do the back, then slide all the fabric back through again because it gets completely in the way

Since the truck dose not sit up so high we need a step to get in wife wanted no Rocker Panel Bars. Getting in and out both of us noticed nothing to bang the snow off with your shoes? I have some left over 1/4 Inch thick ABS I used on the Challenger for it's side skirts. I also have extra mounts for it that clamp into seams under it. So I will make what looks like a step with a edge sticking out to bang against to knock stuff of the shoes getting in. It will stick out enough to hit but not trip over getting in. No holes to drill the clamps are strong and solid when one. This is the side skirts on the Challenger but they won't be this long. Figure a foot or so is enough on each side. Also a picture of the clamps I used stainless steel bolts to hold the ABS Textured material with.DSCF7809.jpg DSCF7810.jpg

@Willy-N The OEM running boards are simple and effective as well. Really like mine. Keep a lot of the crud off. Something to clean boots off. Slotted holes at the top to let snow and debris wash through. Excellent fitment and hopefully people hit the running boards while opening their cars doors rather Than the truck.

It's pretty inspiring to see you guys casually tackle some projects I'd consider insane for an amateur wrench.

It's enough to make a guy wanna go break shit trying to be a grease monkey himself.

    According to Toyota:
    • Thermoplastic-coated stainless steel is precisely matched to the exterior finish
    • Compression-fitted to door edge contours
    • Blend seamlessly to complement exterior styling
I was debating installing these until I saw some on my friends TRD Pro. Initially I didn't even notice them on their truck. They are definitely low profile.

Thank you @Buttskevin21 for doing the CMC and pinch weld mod on this truck today! Professionalism, workmanship and attention to detail all off the charts. Finished product looks OEM. No corners cut, (pun intended). Welds ground down and POR 15 applied. Outstanding work. Highly recommended if anyone needs custom fab work done in Washington state.

Unlike this pavement princess histruck is a badass trail rig.
