not normally a fan of monochrome wheels and paint, but that truck looks BADASS!

 

hey, I’m having some squishy brake symptoms with my PRO. Deal said they did the front brakes before they sold it to me. But now I seem to have a significant amount of shimmy in the wheel when the truck is cold (first drive of the day). Then goes away after about 15-20 min of driving. Plus, the brakes seem super soft and the truck wants to dip to left under hard braking. Any ideas to help out?

Put on a gas mask. Got on my back and sprayed the shit out of the frame etc. with Fluid film.

 

How many miles on your truck?

Brakes really shouldn't need done til over 100k but I kept getting braking vibrations as I said. They were minor but never the less...

For you, it depends if they replaced the rotors or not. Some places will turn them (machine them thinner) instead of replacing. Not a good move, saves a couple of bucks but you get a rotor that might warp. Usually braking vibration is more often caused by pad deposits than rotors being out of true or warped.

You can re-bed the pads - look up brake pad bedding procedures online.

If the pedal is soft, your brakes need bled.

Diving under braking is a common "feature" of stock Tacoma suspension. If anything the dive will become more pronounced with better brakes.

Rotors and pads were $160 all in. 2 hours to swap them in my driveway including running to the parts store to get a couple cans of brake cleaner and time spent jacking the truck up.

Also, I forget, the truck had wheel spacers on when I bought it. Can those affect vibrations?

I should just pull the pads and see what’s going on.

Is there anything special to bleed the Pro brakes with the TSS system? Or just do it as normal?

Just did mine this weekend!

 

Well over the past weekend I traded in my 2020 for a 2022 Barcelona Red SR5 and another build begins. First truck in a long time was not Super White

 

Had to sneak a mod on I picked up on the market place.

 

Rainy day mod:
Received and installed the Suparee sequential turn signals. Black smoke color of course to blend with my truck.
Had these installed before the Amazon driver was even off of my street.

 

Finally got around to ordering and installing a second case on the roof, it looked odd with just one and I honestly use the storage space more than I expected (two kids in car seats, so the under seat and behind seat storage is a pain to get to) so it's nice having even more!

Also aimed the ditch lights a bit, I'm still trying to find the sweet spot with these, since they're the side shooters they're aimed a bit more forward than I'm used to.

 

how do you like it? is it too loud in the cab? does it get annoying? how about on the highway?

Quality spacers won't cause vibrations.

If you're going through the work to pull the pads, it's literally 15 more minutes to pull the calipers and rotors. The rotor will need help from a hammer to come off the hub, but as long as you don't live in the salt belt - shouldn't be more than a few whacks.

Bleeding process is the same as most vehicles. Suck old fluid out of reservoir, fill with new fluid, start with wheel furthest away from master cylinder, end with the closest. Make sure the reservoir doesn't run out of brake fluid. I like bleeding with two people, and usually go around the car twice. Nothing better than a super firm brake pedal.

 

Picked up some custom storage boxes I had made for my tray/ and would allow my camper to slide in.
