Eventually I would love to get rooftop or hood panel, but comparing $40 for a pair of panels to $500+ for a single panel is a pretty easy choice for me.

Totally agree with that logic, especially for something that really only comes in handy if you screw up :p

Yep, its there to keep the battery topped up since my truck is parked for long times without getting started. But it will also come in handy when I am out on a fishing trip since I can unplug the panel and plug it right into my kayaks charge port to give me more time with my fish finder and lighting.

Did those dots at the top of the windshield cause a problem?

On the passenger side they did, I had to move the panel down a fair amount just to clear the dots and get it to stick. The drivers side though it fit all the way up to the top.

No, they were only covering part of the bezel of the panel. Truth be told I should probably put a multimeter on this panel to see what its actually putting out. RIght now the only way I can tell if its "working" is the blue led turns on when its in the sun (or when I tested them under my grow lights in the basement)

Not what I did, but what I saw thru a FB ad. I clicked on a link for this company called Roxmad. Advertising some Tacoma accessories. And I looked at their tonneau cover, and what I have highlighted in red is what caught my attention. I'm not sure if it's a typo or just someone didn't proofread (or both).

    You draw your own conclusions.

They also have a coupon code TACOMA10 for 10% off. So their Sequential turn signals at priced at $62. Super good deal if the quality is there and that's what you're looking for. Plus they are so sleek, it might improve our gas milage....

i know next to nothing on this subject but does the light traveling through the glass impede the charge or does that not make much of a difference? I really like this idea.

I think it's because it's believed/aerodynamic based theory that an open bed with gate closed, captures airflow and decreases fuel economy. That's why some truck owners drive around with their tailgate down thus allowing better airflow. I cannot prove/disprove this theory.

By having a tonneau cover, the airflow does not go into the bed and increases aerodynamics. Of course, I knew about this discussion even before I bought my Tacoma earlier this year.

Whether a tonneau cover increases or decreases your MPG may be a matter of debate and science, but the fact they advertise it as "decrease" is what caught my attention. Again, prob a typo. But just sorta funny.

It is believed that without a cover, there's more drag created by air hitting the inside of the tailgate. When you add a cover, you're essentially creating a giant trunk lid (a-la '92 Monte Carlo) and gaining downforce/streamlined airflow. TBH, I've never read further or done any other research but what I will say is that when I added my Bakflip, the ride quieted down and the truck did handle a little better on the highway with the winds.

I'm gonna add a "Pro" sticker to the tonneau at some point so I can gain 25 more HP.

Shouldnt make a difference really. If it was tinted glass then it would cut output a fair amount.

In the new year, I plan on buying a tonneau cover to protect my bed mat that I just bought for Christmas. I also bought the bed lights which I told my wife will work great with the tonneau cover!

I'll have to test out/validate your conclusion about the tonneau cover...lol!
