Yeah the original Toyota ones I took off don't come anywhere close to the wheel or wheel well to deflect anything.

You probably had a better argument that they might help protect the CV Boot or suspension parts in a front end collision but whatever either way I'm not gonna lose sleep over it...

IF that is what they are for, big if since it's still just speculation, they don't have to be strong enough to matter in most collisions. They only have to be strong enough to make just enough of a difference, even just deflecting the impact by a degree or two, in that precise test that has all known variables (speed, weight, offset, etc.). They likely have no actual impact in the real world collisions, but that one bit of thin-walled tube (and possibly some other minimum viable adjustments in a few other choice spots) could be the difference the 4 star safety rating it got from the NHTSA and 3 stars, which would have a direct impact on sales. That one bit of metal could've sold 100,000 trucks or more since it was added, who knows?

Just found out that the collision place has waited for more than a month before placing the order for my new truck frame. Estimated delivery for the new frame is May 16th:annoyed:. In other unfortunate news, I am growing quite fond of my rent-a-trucks turbo, 4 wheel disk brakes and 8 speed transmission. :help:
