Tested my intake adapter prototype. The magnuson supercharger kit for the 3.5 repositions the throttle body, so aftermarket intakes won't work.

No worries though, because I have solidworks and a 3d printer!

Prototype is made of PLA. Final will be ABS.
Truck ran fine with no issues!

That unfinished edge was the easiest one to show you. There are several more. Both of my hands got pretty cut up.

The plastic trim pieces on the corners are fragile. One was broken in shipping or maybe it broke taking it out of the box. Idk, regardless the piece of plastic that attaches it is 1-2 mm thick. I expect they are really easy to break in the cold white north.

One small last thing. The rubber bumpers that the cover rests on when it's folded didn't survive shipping. The 2 sided tape didn't hold.
I guess that's it.
I really like the way that it looks. I dig the low profile look and the matte finish. The instructions were good. Except for the part about whether to install the weather stripping on the bed header behind the cab. It says that if you have a bedliner that you don't need to use it. Tacomas have plastic beds that may as well be bedliners so I expect that we don't need to use it. However, the header rail where the weather seal goes is metal. I tried it both ways. With the weather seal in place the tonneau sticks up and looks funny. Without it the tonneau lays pretty flat. I like it better without.
Overall, I like the cover. As far as the current hard tonneaus go, I think the backflip mx4 is a good one but I don't think I would specially recommend it over any other cover.

I had to drill a hole in mine for my CB antenna mount. Printed an ABS sleeve to dress the hole up a bit.

One thing i need to work out tho. the bottom independent light. i read i can tap into the brown wire that goes to one of the things already right there so you can have the dim capability's.. it does not dim tho. also when i have headlights on it turns bottom independent light off. Nice job. Your edge protection is a great choice, too. Can I make a suggestion? Put the shelf on top of the L-brackets - so that those brackets will also hold the shelf. Right now, only the bolts are holding it. I get that the bolts are plenty strong enough for a jerry can, but someday you may stand on it or ...something.

(Just notch out the back edge where needed so that you can keep your current bolt hole locations.)

I used that diamond plate for my OBA compressor mount. It is handy shit for sure.

Yeah that's actually what I had planned to do for the same reasons, but when I started to test fit I just didn't like it. The jerry can will actually be sitting on the brackets but like I said, I'll definitely have some straps on it anyway. You are right about wanting to sit on it though lol.

Thanks. That stuff comes in handy. When I was little I had to get a bunch of stitches in my big toe / foot thanks to some sheet metal. And after cutting this to size for the jerry can it was pretty sharp and jagged. Someone would've definitely caught their shoulder on it while camping after a few beers lol.

Very Nice! I would suggest using a little thicker walled square tubing.
But other than that? Great thinking outside the box!
