looks great dude. i feel the same about black wheels, but with my cement tacoma i didnt really know what else to go with. i was shooting for maybe a dark bronze but couldnt find any pictures to convince me.

 

Lol. I remember the second time I went in, they forgot to put my filler cap back on. When they were pulling into the bay fort me to hop in, it just rattled out. Conned them into paying for a full detail, including wax and interior.

 

Yeah, with the cat converter thefts going up, might just have to buy a skid plate just for that.

 

That was common too.. they promise a 30 minute oil change and the guy is paid flat rate, he’s going as fast as possible, quantity over quality doesn’t help with thoroughness.

 

Yeah, it would definitely be a deterrent as it would make it too hard to get a sawzall in there. From what I’ve read they usually go for easy targets near a freeway or other easy escape route.

 

Forgot to also mention that I’ve seen some people on here installing cat shields, kind of like a skid plate but designed to prevent theft. I’m sure if you search it here on TW or google it you’ll find it. Just an alternative that could save some additional weight from being added if a transmission skid isn’t really needed. The RCI skid I got is about 35 pounds give or take.

Wanted something street legal. Definitely missed the Baja’s last night coming out of the dessert but the SS3’s are great for being SAE.

 

Don’t trust a Jeep with a recovery strap around the axle as his recovery point. He shacked the strap to my recovery rope then his axle strap broke launching the shackle into the back upper cab corner at about Mach7. It dented the cab and the recoiling rope broke the glass.

 

Holy crap! Glad no one was hurt, I’m hoping! Yeah recovery can be sketchy for sure. Glad you were able to tell the tale!

 

What are the rails for?

This is why you don’t help people! Just kidding (kinda lol) hope you’re* able to get it repaired soon!

 

Dealer just forgot about those nuts, no biggie. They would have tightened them on your next service visit.

 

Solution: Get Amsteel rope in 5/8" diameter, carry it.

 

All I ask is that you make sure to spend a few minutes aiming them properly. Just because they are "street legal" doesn't mean oncoming traffic doesn't hate you. Then again I say the same to anyone that levels or lifts their truck, swaps out head lights, or installs LED bulbs in incandescent housings without clocking the bulbs properly.
