Did you leave the overload leaf in or did you remove it?

    Some stuff
I heard a ping on my roof in Death Valley, going uphill, in low range, too steep for high range. When I stopped and set up camp, I stood on top of the picnic table to look around and saw a rock on my roof. Not huge or anything, it lives in the center console now.

    Towing experience today:
With tow package and ECT on.
    90 miles/80 highway.
    4,000 pounds load.

Performed well for sure. Just enough power and generally hunted to 1:1 ratio gear (4th) quickly and able to maintain 65 mph on NH highways which include moderate grades and tight entry ramps. Running 285/70/17s BFG K02s at 44 psi (80 max limit so no need for a tire pressure sidebar de jur here, I understand how tires work :)). Last time I pulled two tons was on a V8, naturally this 6 needed to hunt gears…worked as it should. Temp stayed under 1/2 full ride. Down hill performance was reliable, brakes performed well and lateral stability was magnificent (Icon 8, not stock, so duh). Drank a lot of fuel. But, well not as much as my cargo blows through!

I’ll be sure to check the windshield gaps before and after the new one is installed. Gonna cross my fingers I. This one lasting longer. The first crack was just a much just under the passengers side wiper, I heard it hit while passing a semi on i5 and when I hit my brakes for the exit a couple miles down the road I heard it pop, then had a nice big crack. This second one must have been a huge rock from a truck going the opposite way on hwy 101 on the Oregon coast, scared the shit out of my wife and had a large section of glass gone with a 1.5” ring around it. Turned into a crack two days later.

Anecdotal observation. Funny, seems some posts on here are full of stress and anxiety while towing with their respective Tacoma’s. In some situations with much less. I’m seeing a trend from some that these Tacoma’s are capable for towing. However, only if you are prepared, know what you are doing and are keeping in mind all capacities. Whereas some on here trash the truck and perhaps just don’t get all the details and nuances of successful towing. Anyhow, thanks for the detailed towing experience.

Very cool. Did you have to remove your emblem to place the overlay?
