Two weeks ago was one year anniversary with my 2018 Tacoma TRD Off Road. I took it to my Toyota dealership, they did a full synthetic oil change, tire rotation, lubed the drive shaft and re-torqued it for $150. Cheapest service I've had in years for ANY car I own or have owned. I really liked my V6, 6-speed manual Tacoma 4x4. I only put 2,000 miles on it in a year. The problem is that I just didn't love it. I love the way it looked, I loved the way it easily fit in the garage, I loved how rugged it was but overall, I just didn't connect with it. I fully understand why people love their Tacoma's but for some reason, it just wasn't for me.

About 3 or 4 months ago my son (he's 18) asked if we could drive by our local Ford dealership, he said they had a GT-500, a Ford GT (on display which is what he really wanted to look at it), an original 68 Ford Bronco, a Bullitt Mustang, a new full size Bronco, etc. I said sure why not, let's go. I noticed the new F-150, I've never been an F-150 guy but my God that thing was just gorgeous. We took one out and I was hooked. I never thought I would pull the trigger but a dealership, about 5 hours away, sold me a 2021 w/5k miles on it, XLT, sunroof, camera package, 302A, etc. for over $6k off sticker and they gave me more than $1,500 more than what I paid for my Tacoma a year ago. I couldn't resist.

So, what did I do to my 3rd gen today? I traded it for a Ford. . . God help me! :) I really, really love this community, this is a great forum, forums are the lifeblood of any vehicle (if you ask me.) So, long live TacomaWorld! Who knows, maybe someday down the road, I'll trade this in on a Tacoma! I'm planning to stick around, get my 50 posts in (it may take a while) so I can sell some brand new parts I never got around to putting on my Taco.

That's like a set of SS3 Max's, some ditch lights and a light bar. :notsure: Adds up quick.

well every new car is nice indeed. I probably would have gone with a Bronco Raptor… that’s the only thing that would take my Taco away right now.

    take care out there!

Why not just pull the drum off to paint it?

Took me literally one minute to mask, and less than a minute to put the drop cloth into place.

Would take me longer to retract the shoes, and hammer off the cover. Plus one more thing to go wrong. Plenty of drum brakes fly apart once you take the cover off :D

I used to prep clean, use refinish protector, carnauba wax twice, then glaze twice. The cars looked fabulous for a good long time. I did several friends and actually made some $ doing it. Now? That takes too long and I can live with the short spray wax. It won’t last as long, but in the time it took me to do two vehicles (Taco & our Prius) I can live with the look. And I think it turned out just fine.
