Hmmmm, debatable. I can see both sides.

Man, that rear cross traffic alert system would have been ideal in this situation

Just a quick tip on ground connection so you don’t have to use the self tapping screw like the instruction said. Just need to replace the ring connector to a bigger diameter…

Yeah, there's a reason why Texas went no-fault, both insurance companies split the bill for parking lot wrecks. Because technically the lots are on private property / don't have speed limits or rights of way like streets do.

Yes he was flying low, but... Also, future practice, it's one of the reasons why I'm in the habit of backing into parking spots.

PS, you need to rename your truck smashed olive. :boink:

Finally swapped the BSM LED indicators on my SpotterMirrors (older version) with the original OEM LEDs per @RyanDCLB‘s write up below. I’ve had this one on my list for some time, but recently added 35% tint to my front windows making this almost a necessity. (Note: According to posts in below thread, SpotterMirror has upgraded their LED indicator lights and they are now equal to or brighter than the original OEM).

Correct about the private property and I usually do back in but not always. Lesson learned. Definitely not naming it the smashed olive. May sell it after it’s all fixed tbd. My heart hurts knowing it was smashed

That’s interesting… I wonder if Expedition Outfitters changed up the hardware and install process. Sorry to hear that the kit didn’t come with the insert, it’s definitely a nice touch. Maybe call them and see what the deal is.

Attached the Alu Cab Shadow Awning to my load bars yesterday. The mounting holes on the Alu Cab mount didn’t line up perfectly with the holes on the awning, so I had to drill a few holes - argh. This is one well made, strong, convenient awning. A4CD91D7-226B-4915-9948-93DB8CE48C7E.jpgB312578D-F54F-4C10-A33A-F465CE5EF227.jpg

I'm guessing the cross traffic alert system didn't work or it was late?

I'm getting the same kit installed in a few weeks. Would you mind sharing a photo after the suspension settled. How do you like it so far?

…what I see is someone backing out of a parking spot quickly and not looking good enough or at all. Nothing was blocking your view if you had been careful. My first thought at seeing this, is you didn’t look and used the gas pedal. As was said already, he had the right-of-way. It’s on you to proceed ONLY when it’s safe to do so. It wasn’t.

While he was going kinda quick (far from ‘super fast’), you also just as quickly backed out of that spot. You were on your gas pedal, you should have been on your brake (you weren’t) and idling backwards (assuming automatic). The proper method is to back out slowly just enough to give you a clear view, then proceed if it’s still clear, which you didn’t do. By backing out slowly you give a chance for other peeps to see what you are doing too.

Sorry for the damage that sucks, but it’s mostly your fault. He had the right of way and he wasn’t going so ungodly fast that you couldn’t have reasonably avoided it.

Agreed. Assuming that video is at actual speed, the guy driving has the right of way even if he was going a little too fast (Definitely not "Flying.") The guy backing out is actually the one going way too fast in reverse with no hesitation, as in back up a little, look both ways, back up a little more. Imagine a little kid back there.

I appreciate everyone's opinions. It's a parking lot and private property so technically there's no right of way or speed limit. While I love this website sometimes I just can't get over the way people talk and demeanor of some of the members. I'm willing to take half blame. Although I do think he was on his phone and was cutting through the parking lot like I said. Going pretty fast. Whatever terminology suits you guys though. Don't want to ruffle any more feathers.

I'm definitely not looking to hit a guy while he's down (meaning, you just had damage done to a beautiful truck) but even in a parking lot there is a right of way. I did accident investigation (in New York) for 15 years. The guy driving straight ahead had the right of way. And in New York State, when no speed limit is posted, the unposted speed limit is 30 mph. Again, I'm sorry for your damage. My estimate (assuming it happened in NY) is the insurance company will find you 75% at fault and him 25%. Unless of course you can prove he was distracted, as in on the phone which is illegal in NY.

So let me ask you this, let's say in a parking lot the person is cutting across parking spots ( like a lot of people do), who's at fault then?
