I feel you're pain, the same thing happened to me with my first Taco. I bought a set and only later realized there was another option. Unfortunately, the mounting points are slightly different and I'm pretty sure that means you can't just swap in the longer set.

I've got some that aren't flat and you just wrap it so the hooks come out the side. Still works great.

Direct- and Port-injected systems--D-4S or Direct Injection 4 Stroke Engine - Superior--for the Tacoma's were introduced in late 2015 when they received the 2GR-FKS engine. According to this source, D-4S has been around since 2007 first appearing on the Lexus GS models. D-4S was introduced specifically to combat the carbon build-up problem that catch cans are supposed to help with. Here is an article that quotes the Tacoma Chief Engineer Mike Sweers, "What we're doing here is we have slit on the side of our injector and we're blowing that carbon off," speaking with respect to removing carbon from the injector and not the intake valve. Essentially, once the engine is at idle, it enters a self-cleaning mode where in port-injector takes over the fueling of the engine and the direct-injectors clean themselves. When this happens, the port-injectors clean the intake valves as a by-product of their methodology i.e. the fuel--which contains detergents--coats the intake valves thus "washing away" some of the naturally occurring carbon deposits.

    For more information:
Before this research, I would have said that a catch can couldn't hurt. But, after reading the Mike Sweers interview and watching the two videos above, I'm mostly convinced that the 3.5L V6 in the 3rd Gen Tacoma truly doesn't need a catch can. That being said, when financially feasible, spring for Top Tier fuels as these fuels have more detergents and additives in them than the minimum standard set forth by the U.S. EPA. Also, change your oil on a regular basis. The components in an engine expand and contract and have tolerances. These tolerances and expansions/contractions allow for contaminants such as fuel to enter your oil thus reducing the efficacy. Just as well, oil breaks down over time and will eventually gum up everything if you avoid regular service intervals. Finally, drive your truck. Vary the RPMs, idle at stop lights, don't be afraid to breach 3000 RPM, etc.

Thanks to whomever asked this question and led me down this rabbit hole. It was interesting to see how automotive technology has progressed since the olden days of cast iron blocks and Holley Double Pumpers.

Installed front cam. Nakita brand on AZ.
I used the little rubber pieces that let you angle the camera as the template to center and drill the hole. Then I cut the white and green wire.
Grounded to the frame next to the battery and used a tap a fuse for power source.

i have the pioneer 6600NEX head unit so I programmed the Mode button on the steering wheel to enable the front cam. I also programmed it to show reverse camera on long hold of the mode button.
I also have a shortcut on the screen itself.

Finished installing my lift kit tonight and found these two bolts hanging around in my front skid plate.

Bought my truck used and these are definitely not from anything I’ve done to it. Any idea where these came from and if I should be concerned?

those definitely don't look like oem toyota hardware.

also the nylon locking insert isn't threaded at all, indicating those are brand new! spacers from something?

thanks, you got to it before i could. i know my 2014 brz has toyota's d4s system-- it was part of what toyota brought to the table to create the vehicle, and i know that car has direct injectors as well as port injectors that will self-clean, eliminating the problem. given that the 3rd gen came afterwards and used a similar d4-s system, i was going to ask for a source that they weren't self cleaning.

but does anyone have a toyota document on the subtle model year changes from the '19 refresh?

or, one just gets the self-retracting version.
    https://www.amazon.com/NO-RATCHETING-Retractable-SELF-CONTAINED-Cargo-Motorcycles/dp/B077TYSLSM?th=1

i've always wound up my long ratchet straps similar to the video, only difference is the final packaging with the 2 parts. interesting, but way too time consuming imo...

    Should’ve told me man!

I mean all jokes aside, the regular ones are enough for most stuff, worst case I take the struts off to lift the hood higher if need be, can’t imagine it though.

Not worth swapping to them though I don’t think…

The only relevant thing I could turn up on short notice is Tech Tip T-TT-0521-19 wherein the condition is as follows: The current engine active test "Control the Injection Mode" is not operating as desired when controlling the direct injectors manually on 2GR-FKS engines.

This TT seems be related to a human-operated test via TechStream and not an inherent function of the fuel system's normal operation so I don't think it applies to a potential 2019 engine refresh. As far as I can tell, the 2GR-FKS has not had a refresh during it's lifespan. But, it's possible. I just can't find any reliable source to say otherwise.

got my sdhq hidden winch mount today.

holy stickers batman. i'm at the stage in my life where any sticker over 4"x4" needs to come with an advertising contract.

so the sticker made it to the back of the workshop door instead. it's a shame they don't have any subtle stickers.
