this is about what it takes me. a full wash/clay/correction/wax took me 3 days last time.

but i do it for fun, not a job. so there's plenty of 'breaks', distractions, and liquid replenishment involved.

a clay bar is to remove contaminants from the paint before waxing.

this is an 'enhanced' before/after image of how it effects the clearcoat surface
    [IMG]

this is an 'enhanced' image of what only applying wax does to the surface
    [IMG]

so the idea is to remove the contaminants first using a clay bar, and then the wax fills in those divots, leaving a smooth surface behind that makes it more difficult for new contaminants to bond to the vehicle surface-- it uses less wax, but makes the wax last longer, and also makes the vehicle nicer looking, as contaminants effect the level of reflectivity of the clear coat.

Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray. It's good stuff. Adds a shine, repels water like crazy, and smells amazing! I believe it's in the place of traditional waxing.

Pretty much. Clay removes bonded contaminates and preps the paint surface for paint correction. (You'll introduce a ton of scratches and swirls when you clay.) Follow up with sealant, wax, or ceramic coat after polishing. It's on my to do list. :ohsnap:

I'm running an 11+-year-old V1 and I've been thinking about upgrading. The V2 is at the top of list and I'm considering pairing it with JBV1 as you have but on my tablet. Now that Valentine Research has, supposedly, fixed the Ka-band falsing problem, it might be time to pull the trigger.

Have ran them since 2013 and I was an early adopter of the Gen 2 ordered it the day it came out. they had a batch that had start up issues but most of these problems have been fixed. Huge improvement over my older beltronic 955i (2007) and Escort 8500 (2010)

i do have an Uniden R7 as my backup travel detector

Yes, some great explanations by fellow members here.

This concept was new to me as well. I’m old school. Last vehicle was a 2003 Pathfinder we owned for 15 years while our 2 kids were young. Auto car washes and few vacuums a year was all it got. Kids took all of my time. However, previous Toyota Truck that I had for 14 years I washed and waxed all the time. Used dish soap and Nu-Finish wax regularly. That was before kids and all the internet info available these days.

Reading lots of info here and many Youtube videos later I decided to try it. After spending a small fortune on this new truck I was determined to keep it looking good. Using proper techniques to keep the finish in nice shape as long as possible. Needless to say I don’t use dish soap anymore. All quality products and proper techniques. I find I quite enjoy it as its an escape mentality. One thing I never skimped on over the years was regular maintenance on all my vehicles. They never left me stranded. Pathfinder looked crappy some times but was always in good shape mechanically.

I wasn't getting much Ka-band falsing driving in WY/CO/UT/AZ. The latest update from Valentine Research has, however, taken it down a notch from those low levels. JBV1 turns it into a whole 'nother animal, too.

Finally pulled the plug and bought a Pro grill from Yotaverse for my 2020 OR. Looks great. I think they look so much beefier than the stock grill. No pics since it looks just like all the rest. :)

Is that a direct bolt on? Or does it require some modification?
