Biggest thing with mpg and towing is to get into 5th, I spent a lot of time at 63mph in 5th.

Are you able to keep an eye on temps and torque converter lock up status?

    I highly recommend OBD fusion.

I have a android headunit that can track all those things with a bluetooth obd plug, so I should be good.

I did a little test this evening taking my daughter to tutoring. A stretch of road I normally get 16-17mpg on I was getting 21mpg according to the computer. Will be interesting to run a few tanks through as I have the last 20k miles logged with mpg and fill ups.

    NIce, what HU?

You may have been extra cautious with the throttle, I do believe the dam helps +1mpg though, I do have a tonneau cover too.

I have been running a joying toyota corolla headunit for the past few years. It was made before joying found out that they worked in tacomas too, so its a little hacky, but it works well.

I just got a tonneau cover last month, before that I had a soft topper and that thing sucked my gas tank dry. The gap between the top of the cab and the top of the topper was like 6 inches so it acted like a giant sail on the highway. I had to nearly go full throttle just to maintain 75 in the winter.

Got started on my +2 kit tonight and got one side loosely bolted in. Will do the other side tomorrow, then need to do the hydro bumps, limit straps, and after that just waiting on a couple miscellaneous front end parts. Rocking 2wd until some Rcvs show up later this week.

Got the Meso puddle pods installed. Install wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought and took me about 1.5 hours. I’m curious about others experience with them because of two things:
    1. The extra connector on the harness going into the mirror is NOT a match for the DRL lead of the V5 turn signals I have installed. I didn’t plan on using the DRL but just interesting since they were mentioned as being complimentary items.
    2. My dome light switch has NO control over the puddle lights. No matter which position the dome light switch is, the puddle lights come on whenever I unlock the truck or open the door. This one I’m kinda concerned about because sometimes I may want to unlock the truck without the puddles on. May have to message Meso on that.

I also wonder if it would be possible to power another VLED pod light on the same circuit and attach it to the bottom of the door panel so when the door is opened, there is still light exactly where you’re stepping?

I didn’t bother putting the driver side a pillar or sill molding back on because I’ll be installing the Weboost and running wire for the ARB dual to a dash switch and also running wiring to the overhead panel to add a future switch for a front e-locker. Figure better to just get that all done while it’s apart because the KTJO a pillar with grab handle is a bit finicky to get on and off.
