    @chuam

    I've read that aluminum housing is not for the Tacoma but for other similar Toyota model engines.

    The center piece does stand higher than the one on my Tacoma.

    I was hesitant in installing it because I bought the wrong paper filter insert.

    From what I'm told (From a Toyota Parts Dept Rep) that it wasn't designed for the Tacoma...even if you swap the center piece.

    Photo to describe the center piece length.

    I had my mechanic install the aluminum replacement last oil change. He never mentioned at issue with the insert

    I get that.

    I will suggest you do. Easy two wire tap while you’re there. They are pretty bright. I love mine and had them for almost 4 years.

    but your truck all the way. Just my 0.0001

    Removed my winter wheels and installed my stock summers.

    My winters are FN fx Pro wheels and what I'd like to do is sell or trade them for '22/23 TRD Pro wheels just to match my summers.

    I originally got my first set from taco clout but i hated the piss color bsm light. So I took the oem ones out of the old mirrors but when I went to take the bsm out of the taco clout one it messed up the mirror behind the bsm spot. I kind of knew where he got it from and eventually I found it on aliexpress and ordered a new set for $60. Originally taco clout was the only place i saw it available.

    Too much to list
    Nice. I run a rack, tent, etc about 6 months of the year so I went with “option 2” and it’s been fantastic. Had some squeaking initially but lubed them up and haven’t had any issues since.

    @chuam

    I don't mean to worry you...not sure how the length affects the inner workings of oil flow in the engine.

    It seems the body and internal elements look the same as the Plastic OEM.

    The internal clips/spring that keep the centerpiece in-place look identical.

    Why the filter needs to stand taller than the center piece is unknown to me.

    Maybe pointing a flashlight inside the crevice area can reveal what type of clearance there is for the higher center piece?

    If you've been driving without any issues, maybe we are over-thinking this...but the fact that part number for the OEM aluminum is for other than Tacomas keeps the hesitation alive.
