Tell me about that fuel tank, Was your old one leaking? Is it a larger size? What made you upgrade?

 

The old tank was fine. This was an upgrade to recover range lost due to poor fuel economy with the added weight and larger tires. The tank is from long range America and holds 33 gallons giving me a range of between four and five hundred miles depending on the type of driving.

 

About 240 loaded, a little more than double the weight of a factory tank. I notice it, but the weight is in a good place, nice and low. Safer and more convenient than a couple three Jerry's hanging off the back bumper which was my original plan.

Not who you asked, but quite a few of us have had great results using a Stant #105040. Make sure the cap has an "S" embossed on it.
Buy it from an autoparts store - not online. Amazon was notorious for selling fakes which would throw a code.

I've had mine for two years, two emission inspections, and zero problems.

The air dam still in place suggests to me that the owner isn’t going off road that often.
Probably just as well, the openings in the frame would fill up with mud and gravel.

washed for the first time in a couple months and threw on some of the turtle wax ice seal n shine.

 

I will also be adding an Apple Tag inside the tailgate with a phone reminder to change the battery every 10.5 months that way if someone does steal it somehow I can track it and recover it and throw them in jail.

I really like it. Trying to build my taco as sort of an end of the world mobile, and this fits the ticket. Hows your fuel mileage readout now? Is it all wacky, or is there a fix to tell the computer the tank holds 33gal now? Something a tune could address?

 

Readout is all wacky in regards to capacity. You can drive for over an hour without it moving off “way above full”. It seems like the average mpg is accurate though. On a road trip, I usually stop to fill up around 1/4 tank and add 25 gallons.

 

Have Apple Air Tags hidden in all of our vehicles (and on our dog’s collars ). Über easy to track everything!
