Could you post a pic of the grommet you are referring to? I've been searching for a way to run some wiring into the cab. Thanks and looks great

Also does cost a subscription fee to utilize the features of my truck. Not much difference honestly, but i'm not paying someone to monitor my vehicle and enable something that every other manufacturer has on their freaking key fob.

Plus, if you are in an area with poor cell service (like my new house) remote start does not work. No matter how many time your press lock on your Fob.

I haven't seen that one before. I got the MaxTrac awning from Napa a couple years ago for $99. Can't beat the price for an 8'x8' awning. I couldn't believe the price of some of the other awnings on the market... especially for being so much smaller.

Same. I got mine about 2 years ago for $83. I've used an ARB a couple of times, and there isn't a huge difference to justify the 4x cost. I added some LED tape light to the front and rear track too. On my Tahoe I just got rid of. Installing my Smartcap on my new Tacoma this weekend and will then mount to that.

I was thinking of adding LEDs too. Are those just battery powered with a little remote? Or are they wired in somewhere?

They are just powered by USB connections. They are for use behind a TV. I just hooked them up to a USB splitter that is connected to a small power bank. I just hang an AR15 mag holder to the support rail and toss in the power bank. Its right behind the flag.

Interesting. No issues with moisture leaving them installed since they aren't "outdoor" use?

No issues. they are pretty protected by the awing. Plus they were only like $11/ea. I'll be just fine if they need replacement in a few years.

I've been running the KDMAX tune for quite a while now. I just upgraded to the latest version. I didn't expect much difference since the tune felt great before, but the latest version really impressed me. The shifts are even smoother and the timing is a perfect as you can get without a manual transmission. I am even showing a 1mpg improvement over the previous version after 2 tanks of gas averaged.

Yes, that is how it works with the Toyota Connected Services enabled. New vehicles come with a year "for free" then you have to pay a fee just to get something that other manufactures offer physically on their key fobs. That the issue I have. Plus it only works when the system in the truck can connect to the Connected Services systems. Cell service is spotty in some locations and I don't like the fact my truck will only remote start if its connected to the net....

From a reviewer "Starting at the beginning of 2022, Toyota removed the remote start function from physical key fobs and is rolling out a smart remote start feature through Toyota Connected Services, but you’ll have to pay for it."

I feel like this has been discussed a bunch, and it’s not true. If I remember correctly, Toyota did this but fixed it after everyone was (rightfully) pissed.

You are probably right, but when I talked to 2 different Toyota dealerships, they didn't know of this fix and still told me I'd have to pay the for the janky @ss (in my experience) app. So, since no one seems to actually know (myself included) its just easier to install a module that works no matter what.

I just bought a 2023, and the 3 times remote start works from the FOB, i really hate how the truck turns off when opening door, I mean it can sense that i'm close to the truck why can't it just stay running FML. More wear and tear on the starter.

I purchased my truck used, have never had the entune app installed on any device, have called to attempt to opt-out of connected services which I was never enrolled in and have removed the fuse which controls connected services (and the hands free mic) and my fob still works. If you research it around here, the going theory from some corporate press release on the matter is that the fob will work for at least 10 years or something. Using the Toyota app to remote start it is a different matter.
I have an aftermarket installed so don’t care that much, but the dealers have absolutely no idea what Toyota corporate is doing or how the auto start works.
