You are probably right, but when I talked to 2 different Toyota dealerships, they didn't know of this fix and still told me I'd have to pay the for the janky @ss (in my experience) app. So, since no one seems to actually know (myself included) its just easier to install a module that works no matter what.

I just bought a 2023, and the 3 times remote start works from the FOB, i really hate how the truck turns off when opening door, I mean it can sense that i'm close to the truck why can't it just stay running FML. More wear and tear on the starter.

I purchased my truck used, have never had the entune app installed on any device, have called to attempt to opt-out of connected services which I was never enrolled in and have removed the fuse which controls connected services (and the hands free mic) and my fob still works. If you research it around here, the going theory from some corporate press release on the matter is that the fob will work for at least 10 years or something. Using the Toyota app to remote start it is a different matter.
I have an aftermarket installed so don’t care that much, but the dealers have absolutely no idea what Toyota corporate is doing or how the auto start works.

I do not have Toyota Connect installed. I just do like manual says. Press lock button then within 3 seconds press and hold the lock button for about 10 second. Truck starts. I have to be within 100 ft or so of truck as range is not very far. Don't why it doesn't work for you.

I think Tacos in the past few years had the remote start module built in. You have the paid option of using the app or manual option of the triple click on the remote.
My 2017 did not so I purchased the N2Design module and installed in 20 min.

Does the miller cat sheild just cover the area of the catalytic convertors and not block anything else? Was it an easy install and did you need to remove anything ?

Homemade bed rack to clear the Lomax cover(fitted last week but forgot to post), i throw a gazelle pop up tent and a tote up there when we camp so they don’t have to handle too much weight and they’re removed with 4 bolts if I ever need to open the cover.

I do have a second bar just only fitted the one as a test fit!

Pretty much, and you have to unscrew the two little support arms on either side from the frame, place the cat guard, and screw the arms back down with the security screws it comes with, whole thing can be done in about 20 min- very easy

Bought our 2020 Certified Used which comes with the Toyota Connect service, SiriusXM and such for 90 days. I added the app at the time but I didn't try the remote start until now, after the connected service expired (although the app can still find its location).

I tried the fob process (press lock once, twice and then press and hold for 10 seconds). It acts like something should happen, lights flash 7 times more, but then nothing happens no matter how long I continue to hold the lock button down. I tried another sequence, press lock once, twice, three times and then press and hold lock for 10 seconds but nothing happens so it looks like it's supposed to be the three-press sequence.

FWIW I added a OE Toyota tailgate lock but I doubt that would have any impact on it.

So I'm guessing ours never had that option?

For my '23 I press the LOCK button a total of FOUR times; on the FOURTH time, I press & HOILD until it starts.
I read on previous posts people were pressing 3 times.

Interesting. I did try that sequence but nothing happened at all, only 3x and then just a little extended light show. ;)

Getting the light show makes me wonder if the remote starter on yours has a failure of some kind? I can tell you my timing on my 3 presses has to be perfect before I get the truck to start. I don't think I have ever actually gotten it on my first try! Ha

Wondering the same now. I tried it a number of times but was only treated to the light show. Will be getting our new Venza back from the dealer today (they're trying to figure out why the infotainment system keeps freezing/shutting down), so maybe I'll ask one of the service folks.

Yep, tried it fast, slow and in-between. Just get the series of 7 light flashes and then nothing. The only "chirps" are the normal lock sounds though.

Even though it's an access cab and I'm not lifting it, I'm debating if it's worth doing the ECGS bushing if I'm gunna have the entire front end apart?

I did it on my 2.7 AC with 5100's set at .65 a few weeks ago i figured i already had it apart why not would rather not have an issue in the future. I also put a small bead of weld on the lca tabs to hopefully prevent them from bending. With the no lift option on the bilsteins i doubt you will have an issue. I normally see the issue with 1.5'' and up in the front it was just cheap assurance for me.

My truck has 110k on the odo.. i'm wondering if I could do more harm than good by doing the ECGS swap in case the diff opening and flange area are kind of rusty or otherwise not pristine? With vehicles I've learned that "if it aint broke dont fix it" usually works out best. But should the needle bearing wear out I'll be doing most of this work twice over..... decisions! lol

Very nice! Love seeing homemade setups. I did something similar so I'm able to throw my bike on top of the stock tonneau.

Agree i usually have the same mindset, but i also hate doing things twice. My truck only has 22k on it and i will say its amazing how much tighter the bushing is on the axle vs the bearing i pulled out. I was toying with it on the bench once i got the bearing out, i would consider mine almost new at that mileage and there was a significant amount of play vs the bushing. its a pretty simple install i picked up the removal and installation tool wound up selling them here in the marketplace after, hardest part was prying the axle out.
