Back in my youth I walked 10 miles each way to school, uphill both ways.

One thing you may try, I get this stuff at NAPA called "Kroil", it a penetrating oil that's the best I've ever used. It's expensive, about $20 for a small can, but it's worked for me when nothing else has. Also, if the penetrating oil doesn't work, try heating the bolt, I've gotten many a stuck both out using heat. I'm on the coast of NC, so rust/corrision is a big thing, I'm always dealing with bolts that don't want to come out. Best of luck to you.

i wonder if Toyota engineers feel ashamed of themselves seeing that Tacoma owners have to spend money fixing such stupid design. I would’ve loved to be part of the meeting where it was decided how they were going to arrange the buttons and what the argument to do so was.

That's what I'm here for, the mods and the gear.
I thought bed liner was bad for skid plates and rock sliders. Defeats the purpose and might get you hung up.

Hope not. It’s pretty thin spray on Herculiner which I can gouge with my finger if I try. Couldn’t abide the non black.

I actually like the orientation of the buttons. When you press volume up or down, on the screen it goes left and right. It makes sense.

For us Lowly SR owners that's the connection for the OEM wiring harness that operates the fog lamps.

    Me too.

The engineers have to worry about putting out a vehicle that can stand up to the reliability we have all come to expect from the Taco. Not so much about the orientation of the secondary labeled volume button on the steering wheel.

This wasn't an epic engineering failure.

This morning walking out to my truck it welcomes me with a check engine light illuminated before I even open the door. Not sure what the deal is but I started it up and a message on the screen says something to the tune of "malfunction detected with the engine or transmission, contact dealer.. blah blah" I was able to move it so I could take my other half's car to work, but none of the dash lights lit up. Anyone got any clues? I do have a scanner I can plug in later after work, just didnt have time at the moment as I needed to get to work. I didnt want to risk actually driving it, so I just moved it over in the driveway.

Swapped out my bed rack for an Xtrusion Overland mid height with AXS gates. Barely fits in my garage now, ha. I just have to tweak my solar panel mounts and I should be good to go. But this thing is awesome so far. Still waiting on them to send me some extra brackets/mounts to work my my Revolver bed cover though.

I never even noticed anything odd about the buttons until I saw complaints here and they don't bother me it all. Up/down goes up/down the saved stations list; turning the knob right or pressing the right button and the volume increases. TBH, I can't recall how they work in my other cars; my fingers just seem to know what to push. It's like switching between auto and manual transmission - once you can drive either it's easy to switch. Or LH drive vs RH drive. Or different keyboard layouts.

Switched from KDMAX to the OTT tune. KDMAX was good, but no matter what throttle setting I used, the truck seemed a little "jumpy". I appreciate all the effort involved with designing tunes, etc. Some like the jumpy throttle response, but for my personal preference, I don't. So far the OTT seems smoother and has a similar throttle response minus the jerkiness. It's been 1 day so I don't have any gas mileage comments yet. Thank you to Alex at AY Tuning who was out most of the day in Oklahoma City dealing with terrible weather to be sure that all of us got the tune we needed.

Tell me more about that awning mount...

I have a mid-height rack as well that I've been wanting to mount my awning onto like that. Probably the sturdiest looking arms/mounts I've seen yet

Great choice. I bet you will like the tune more and more as you drive it and will notice how much smoother it is now. No more jerky truck or being stuck at 2,000 rpm all the time.

@thomasburk You've got less than a week to go

I had learned to roll stop signs more than usual and be super light on the gas to avoid the "jump". Not necessary anymore.

You can save a lot of space (& a little weight) by using thin aluminum strip instead of plywood. 2"w x 1/8"thick x whatever length you want. HD, Lowes, ACE, etc. all carry a variety of sizes to choose from.
Definitely use the rubber bumper at the bottom. Even if you bend the alu strip at the bottom. That fiber bed wall will get chewed up otherwise.
Use pistol-cable-locks to prevent your mounted items from leaving with someone else.

Good to hear. And, much safer. Especially if you live where you get some snow and ice.
