Does it have to be front mounted, or forward facing? I remember back in the days in California we would use a couple of hair ties and put it on our passenger front facing sun visor. Cops never argued against it..

I did the wheel overlays too; an hour per wheel. And the interior door handles. Then I did my taillights with light smoke film at another hour each, and then my mirror turn signals. Then my headlights with clear film. Yesterday I put PPF in the exterior door cups (promo product so I had to test it). I keep saying I need to either stop buying vinyl or open a shop. Even now that I have some practice, with how long it takes me I'd go out of business in no time.

Maybe it's for the connected services as well as SXM?

It is definitely a connected services thing. If you don't use that service you shouldn't need to replace anything other than making it look nice. I could see a line for FM or SXM, but if you use your phone for your entertainment those are pretty much useless as well! They also may not need the circuit board as the connection to whatever acts as the antenna may still be solid based on what's left of the board.

I might coat it with some clear high heat paint along the welds prior the install…
I still need to get a new gasket…

On a longer drive, I have noticed that XM radio is cutting in and out.

    Oh well.

Somewhat normal. Used to be a lot worse, but it still happens now and then when the satellite signal encounters physical (trees, mountains, etc.) and/or electrical (cell tower) interference.

    https://vaistech.com/satellite-radio-cutting-out/

Could be your antenna or something to do with your Taco's system, however if it was something to do with your Taco it should continue to happen on short or long trips. So more likely "normal" interference.

Put a sticker on the hood bulge so west-bound driving in the afternoon sun stops cooking my retinas so fast.

My Prinsu rack finally showed up! Thankfully I could just barely get the truck in my garage on an angle so I could fit on either side and work on getting it up top since it’s getting quite cold and I didn’t want to work in the dark. IMG_2651.jpg

It all depends on how hard you off-road it. If you’re not bumping the skid into rocks then you should be good. Don’t want to leave it behind on a trail somewhere.

I’ve only lost the signal when down in canyons in Big Sur. Once I get back up to an area of higher altitude and minus trees it comes back.

I have been needing to do this for awhile. Mainly so I can coat the windshield plastic once removed w/ g technique (it’s starting to fade a bit).
