Thanks to recent Toyota sale. I was able to get a new OE exhaust w/black tip and new gasket. Just like what came with my truck. I shouldn’t have sold mine. I couldn’t find a used one.
Got tired of the Borla S-Type. Although I’m tuned, I didn’t want to hear the noise and shifting anymore. I’m sure it sounds better with MT.

Bed-linered the Black Friday-discounted skid. Came out ok (not great - both rattle can and user issues) but it’s a skid plate.IMG_0683.jpg IMG_0685.jpg

I wonder how many of these skids they sold during that sale? After selling my RCI tank armor I bought a TRD Pro skid and some maintenance items at the sale price. I’ll install it when I do my EOY oil change and post a couple photos.

Does the OEM tip make much improvement in sound?

Looks great, I got the RCI sliders for my long bed as well and LOVE them, especially the kick outs.

Had a close friend recommend the RCI sliders to me with a slight word of caution.......

He got his sliders with the top covers same as you, but let me know if I chose to get covers too and did any kind of mudding or dirty trails to clean them out ASAP, as the top covers collected massive amounts of dirt under them, and it was near impossible to get out of the crevices between the underside of the top plate and bars if you let it dry.

The RCI top plates are bolted on and thus are removable (or you can bolt them on later if, like me, you didn't get the top plates and want them later). Even without the top plates mine gather lots of ice and winter muck but not as much as my 4Runner running boards did. Of course after a bit of time I bet those bolts will be really tough to remove. I've cleaned mine thoroughly once and that was to do some touch up painting (such is the life of a slider - getting scuffed).

Indeed they are, but my point was that after having to remove them just twice after two trips on the trails after installation, my buddy had LONG had enough of that, and I have never seen him remove them since.
They were just too much of a PITA to deal with, so he pretty much immediately heads to the self wash after a trip, but he found that even then because we are usually away for a week or two, they were super difficult to clean unless you did remove them, which he got super sick of doing.
Honestly, I'm not that sure he even put them back on after our last trip, although we haven't hung out in a while.

The theme was Then and Now. The 2023 was on the other side. 10 years or something. I dunno, I just drive!

I didn’t start/try without it. But I like the way it sounds now. I heard some people that adding a tip afterwards noticed a better sound. What I noticed is my truck runs better with the added back pressure of the OE exhaust. Seems my truck didn’t like the Borla either.

    Nice!
I laugh my ass off when I see pictures of people installing these and using a towel or something on the jack so they don't scratch the SKID PLATE. I threw mine on the ground and slid it under the truck.

My wife's 67 Camaro. Detuned to run 10s in ET competitions. She is consistently in the mid to low 10s. Too many certs and too much safety equipment if she busts into the 9s.

A friend once spent much time building a desk-under-bed-top large setup for his daughter bedroom from just lumber. Then she wanted it painted purple. :annoyed:
