    What happened?
My AJT case has held up better that the OEM case for 2 years of off road use so far.

Either the resin to make this batch has quality issues, or I dropped it too many times lol I’ve had OEM stuff that’s lasted years. My AJT has hairline cracks on the front as well.

Despite the weather today I got motivated to pop on the tent, awning and different light bar brackets so I didn't have to trim the new prinsu fairing.

Not so much a case that would go over the oem fob, but new shells that completely replace the oem plastic are really popular. Reason? Aesthetics mostly. They come in colors and look cooler. One brand even has different color buttons

    Just curious,

but did you install bed stiffeners for the topper's additional weight?. I have seen a few discussions where people are saying the tacoma bed is not strong enough on its own for toppers.

I dont imagine an ARE topper weighs that much though.

As I found out when I went to put stiffeners on recently my old shell did bend out my bed slightly. Pretty sure I posted a picture in here already.

Yes one of the first mods i did to the truck, also adds some additional tie down points, cheap insurance for the bedside. Topper is 2-300lbs so its a decent amount of weight especially rocking and bumping offroad

I'm going to have nightmares about this for a week now. I'm sorry, dude. That hurts all the way over here.

That looks so choice! This morning, the wifey turned to me at breakfast and said, "I think it would be a bad idea to go on our trip to the four corners before you put some sliders on." I'm not an idiot. Gonna call RCI on Monday. If they don't have it in stock, I might die.

Those cargo boards are genius. The net is to keep the sheet goods held up by the boards from sliding into the road, I assume? I'm gonna have to copy you!

I was gonna get all old-man about it and complaint about that option, but you're right. The thing is priced really nicely, so I should just bite the bullet and move on.

Took off my soft topper and put it back in storage today, I only run it in the winter time to keep my ice fishing gear protected. But this year we didnt really have much of a ice season, I only got out twice. So tonnaeu cover went on and I put my cool boat sticker on that my mother inlaw got me for christmas.

Gave my Tacoma a much needed wash and detail today. Every time I had wanted to wash it recently, it was either raining or was going to the next day. Hopefully I can keep it clean for at least a few days!

Installed the K&N FIPK (minus the hi-flo filter) and the TRD Intake Accelerator to my stock intake components. Also removed the secondary charcoal filter in upper air box for less restricted air flow.

Why did I do this and not one of the other 100 options? Bc the stock air box is perfectly suited for my needs, but with some light modifications. Also, the TRD Performance Intake uses essentially the same parts to achieve increased air flow and increased “performance”.

Project total cost was approx $130. Performance gains will remain unknown and left to wild speculation. MPG gains have netted me anywhere from +0-1 MPG.

Am I happy I did it? Absolutely! The engine bay looks nicer (which doesn’t matter), the truck sounds a little cooler with WOT (doesn’t save gas), and under normal driving conditions nets me better fuel economy.

All in all, I’m very happy and recommend this upgrade to anyone looking to mimic an “OEM+” build. Parts and numbers listed in pics below.

Thanks! I hadn’t thought about using the cargo net like that. I will be strapping anything of substance to the existing anchor points in the bed.

I figure the cargo net should be good for some smaller goods. I plan to add more quick fists or other small tie downs to the cargo boards for bins and other organizers in the future.
