I was gonna get all old-man about it and complaint about that option, but you're right. The thing is priced really nicely, so I should just bite the bullet and move on.

Took off my soft topper and put it back in storage today, I only run it in the winter time to keep my ice fishing gear protected. But this year we didnt really have much of a ice season, I only got out twice. So tonnaeu cover went on and I put my cool boat sticker on that my mother inlaw got me for christmas.

Gave my Tacoma a much needed wash and detail today. Every time I had wanted to wash it recently, it was either raining or was going to the next day. Hopefully I can keep it clean for at least a few days!

Installed the K&N FIPK (minus the hi-flo filter) and the TRD Intake Accelerator to my stock intake components. Also removed the secondary charcoal filter in upper air box for less restricted air flow.

Why did I do this and not one of the other 100 options? Bc the stock air box is perfectly suited for my needs, but with some light modifications. Also, the TRD Performance Intake uses essentially the same parts to achieve increased air flow and increased “performance”.

Project total cost was approx $130. Performance gains will remain unknown and left to wild speculation. MPG gains have netted me anywhere from +0-1 MPG.

Am I happy I did it? Absolutely! The engine bay looks nicer (which doesn’t matter), the truck sounds a little cooler with WOT (doesn’t save gas), and under normal driving conditions nets me better fuel economy.

All in all, I’m very happy and recommend this upgrade to anyone looking to mimic an “OEM+” build. Parts and numbers listed in pics below.

Thanks! I hadn’t thought about using the cargo net like that. I will be strapping anything of substance to the existing anchor points in the bed.

I figure the cargo net should be good for some smaller goods. I plan to add more quick fists or other small tie downs to the cargo boards for bins and other organizers in the future.

Installed the Rago Fabrication CB antenna mount. Wire wheeled some of the powder coating off underneath (the mount is SS) to ground the antenna.

    IMG_6608.jpg

Capped off the coaxial connector for now until I run the cable and install the antenna. Started raining so I called it a day. I’ll probably install the CB tomorrow morning.

    IMG_6609.jpg

Gonna have to “feather” down the powder coating a little. It rubs the tailgate when closing it. This mount is pretty stout and should last a long time.

CaliRaised cat shields. First one was a learning curve. Took me over 10x longer than the 3 minute YT video. I had to completely remove the diagonal brace in order to get the screws to line up and thread in properly, but once hand-started they tightened up without a fuss.

I finished installed a new bed cover and took wife for a ride shortly after only to have her tell me smells musky in here, you must have a water leak. Sure enough I did have a leak in the rear. Both rear sides carpet was damp. Went to work today (I'm a tech) and pulled rear seat bottoms and rear portion of carpet up, took all day to dry carpet and insulation. I'm pretty sure it's my 3rd brake lamp leaking. Is this common on 3rd gens?

Installed the Powerbrake BBK today! Did a quick drive around the block to start the break in. Holy cow are these the real deal. If you're like me and have been researching a BBK these are phenomenal. Costly yes, but I'll feel alot better with all the weight of my truck knowing I have improved stopping power especially loaded down with camping gear

This is true. 13 isn’t bad though. It’s still hard though since they’re family members.

That true. I lost my female pup 3 yrs and 1 week to the day before I lost my little boy. She was creeping up on 16 yrs old. I was hoping he would live longer like she did.

I installed some DS18’s in the dash and some 6x9 Kicker KS’s in the front doors. I ran out of time before I could do the new speakers in the rear doors. They sound much better than the oem ones. The HU doesn’t seem to have enough power to take advantage of the new speakers but that’s, I plan to add an amp later on and possibly a sub. Adding the amp later is one of the main reasons I went with th KS’s over the CS’s.
