I too love weird speakers. I have some infinity uniplane speakers brand new in the box in the basement. Its a super flat 3 way system with 8 inch woofer, 4inch mid and tweeter, but they are only about a inch deep. I used a set in my old 1989 BMW 325i, ended up finding another brand new set 15 years ago to install in my 1991 BMW, but never got around to it. They fit perfect on the older flat cardboard door panel cars.
I also have a set of infinity kappa 1.1cs 3ways. Its a 6x9 woofer, 4 inch mid, and emit ribbon tweeter. The tweeters are pretty much the standard for high end tweeters, but I dont dare use them as they are stupid fragile.

Those dayton res-core speakers look like they would make a really cool subwoofer for behind the seats in our truck. You could build a thin box that fits in the cubby as a bandpass using 3 of them.

I originally planned to do similar with my lat250s in my truck

I've had to change mine 2 times in 77k. 1st at 48K, the second at 74K.. I thought there might have been a third time in there somewhere but can't find a record of it on my Fuelly app. Replaced them because they'd squeak like a mother when it was even a little damp out. After i removed the old belts, i'd notice a lot of cracks in the belt, so figured that was it.
I've used a belt from a mom-and-pop part store and one from O'Reilly's. The dealer wanted $60 for the belt and $150 for labor (and I replaced it myself both times in about 15 minutes...)

My question is- do you guys think brands really make a difference? I don't tend to believe so, but I don't know...

Oh man what a bummer :(
Glad your ok and all involved. It would have probably been pulling left or right if you had frame damage depending if and how much. If your recovery hooks connected to the frame look bent and not lined up good chance there might be frame damage .
    Hope not

    Installed NFab light mount today.
I like how stealthy it looks and don’t need a full on bumper.

i think i'm set for the sub duties for the time being. i've got a passive radiator box setup with an sb acoustics shallow sub, with a css acoustics passive radiator (adjustable weights mount in the front). hoping to get it hooked up this spring...

i got into the thrift store circuit too much, and ended up collecting radioshack realistic and optimus lines, along with some of the more unusual jensen speakers from the 1950-60's when they were built in chicago.. notably, the 3p/2 which was a thin-mount(3-5/8" thick) 8"active/ 10" passive radiator design using 'polytec' cones, and a matching pair of g-610b 15" 3-way's...

i never could like ribbon tweeters. i've tried them a few times, and they sound good at first, even model really well. but over time, they just start to feel 'lacking' like 500hz of the middle of their response is simply chopped out and forgotten to exist.

Just finished installing my Clutch Accumulator delete disk. Shouldn't have waited so long. Nice when your truck reacts like you want it to. Smooth shifting. Thanks @Firn !!!
