So replaced the alternator, belt tensioner, belt and an idler pulley because I was told that's what's causing a squeal, all was well for a day drove it and I was happy. But started the truck this morning squealing again WTF.

My question is, can the pulley on the AC compressor be bad, that's literally the only thing that hasn't been changed in the last year besides the crank. Can't be the clutch or compressor AC still blows cold.

I never understood this one, but if something has text on it, it has to be perfectly level.

I think Diamondback recommends a stronger gas strut. You can get some just a little longer, and not use the “safety lever” on the front opening and it will open 90 degrees. So much nicer.

Currently in for PA State safety inspection, just got off the phone with the stealership. He said the passenger front market bulb is out(was working when I dropped it off, but whatever, possible I missed it, or it burned out) $5.95 for the bulb, $40 to install! I said no worries, I’ll plug the new bulb in myself, and he was like, it’s a big hassle for us to fail it and then reinspect it after you’ve replaced the bulb, so I’ll give you the labor for $19.95. I wish I had a trustworthy mechanic around me. Tired of dealing with the dealership…

are these soft (ish) or more on the rigid side? I have husky liners that I hate cause they are hard and curl up and totally suck.

I’m in PA. Not sure, but they may be required to provide re-inspection if you fail, but don’t want to. (Extra cost = big hassle.)

I got my car inspected at local tire shop and they found an issue with the brakes. I put on new rotors and pads for ~$400 vs their $2K repair estimate. No additional cost for re-inspection, IIRC.

Ask around at other places about re-inspection if the truck fails on the first pass.

I thought I had come across this information when installing my DB low profile cab guard. But after the install and saw that the standard 80lb gas 'spring' (their definition) easily held the panel open I let it die on the vine. So just to satisfy my curiosity I chatted DB tech support and they in fact do have optional gas springs available. They said the next step up for my SE Taco short bed would be a 97lb spring. If you had a long bed you might want a longer length to make more of the bed accessible. If my 80lb'ers take a crap maybe I'll upgrade. Anyway good catch @Benny blanco .

In Texas there is no fee to re-inspect within 30 days of the failure. Outside the 30 days you pay again. Probably similar to PA?

Worked that way down in MD for me too. Had a couple bulbs out, ordered them, came back a few days later for the re-inspect. Not sure if they were just being nice, but I didn’t get charged for “failing” the first time.

Damn palm trees. I'm lucky that I don't have any of those about. But there are other things that jump out now and then.
I have this fear of messing up my mirror, and not in replacing the mirror, but getting it painted to match. Can you get prepainted mirrors or are you just going to go for a black one?
