I got the Ride Shocks rear shocks and they’ve been amazing for thousands of miles. So far, I’ve only installed the rear shocks because the front coils weren’t ready yet when I got the rears back in late July. Went from Los Angeles, CA to Glacier National Park in Montana and back to break them in. Lol

Backstory: The KING Shocks that I used to have on the rears were leaking and over due for service. (Had about 60k miles on them) Plus, I was getting ready for a long road trip with friends to Glacier National Park. The rear shocks were the priority to replace and I was short on time (partly due to procrastination). I was referred to AccuTune by a trusted local off road shop, Dirty Parts Off-Road in Culver City, so that I could get a quote for the rebuild on the KINGS. I believe I got to speak with John at AccuTune from day one. I mentioned that I would like to get a new set of shocks while the KINGs were getting rebuilt and he mentioned that they had these new RIDE SHOCKS. I asked if they had them in red. He said yes, and I was probably 90% sold on them because of that. :D

We continued to communicate via text and I decided to eventually go see them in person at El Cajon to pull the trigger on the purchase. John was very cool with helping me out with what to do with the KING Shocks and how to set up the RIDE SHOCKS for the rear setup on the truck.

Visiting their facility at El Cajon.

Cool RIDE SHOCKS swag I got from John: 2 shirts, a hoodie and a trucker hat.

    In with the new…

    Out with the old…

A stop during the road trip up to Glacier NP.

Campsite on the first day/night at Emery Bay Campground.

Group campsite for the following four days at Emery Bay Campground.

Got a nice view of the Hungryhorse Reservoir from the rtt

Thanks to a friend who helped me get the rtt leveled. The RIDE SHOCKS rear shocks and KING Suspension front coilovers helped by doing their thing too. Thanks, guys.

A shot with the gang by the Glacier NP sign near Lake McDonald.

A little side quest in Glacier NP…

Got to stop by Yellowstone for the first time on the way back home to Los Angeles. Checked up on the rear shocks during a stop to see how they were doing. They looked all good.

    Some souvenirs from Glacier NP

Out with the old in with the new. 2012 2nd Gen with the son-on-law (in 2017), 2017 3rd Gen going to my son (soon) and I get the 2024 4th Gen. Let the mods begin. :spending:

TRD Sport Premium. I think I'm going to like this engine/transmission and the seating position.

Rotated tires. Left the rears off and painted the hubs so people will quit telling me I’m missing center caps. I’d run the liftd customs F5/Gen5 caps, but they use adhesive and it would be an extra chore every rotation to remove a cap to hoist the spare, and install it on the one added into the rotation. This’ll work.

    Why?
It's a lightweight, bare bones, classic wheel. The stock steelies that came on my truck were basically the same design with less offset and plastic hubcaps. I think all the SCS wheels look good though, plus they are hubcentric which is a big plus in my book.

Am I the only one that finds myself wanting to put a “nose” sticker() on the stiffener tie-down? (When I am thinking with only the second digit of my age)

Well I ordered the kit that’s supposed to allow them to attach but they screwed up and sent me the regular mounting brackets. Didn’t wanna wait so ended up going to tractor supply or ace hardware, can’t remember which, and getting longer J hooks and some large washers. I’ll run out today and grab some pics for ya. It worked fine. Prolly $15 in hardware.
