Mine is one I built about 15 years ago. It uses a Harbor Freight electric hoist (similar model linked below) that is mounted to the wall above the garage door and pullies and rope mounted to the ceiling towards the back of the garage. I have safety chains hooked to the top once it is hoisted up so the weight isn't on the hoist.

Here is a rough drawing of it. I will do similar for the RTT but probably just use a manual crank winch since its pretty light. Looking up the Harken Hoist, it is exactly the same concept, but added an electric winch. I got the hoist on sale for $80 when I bought it. It was also the 880lbs hoist, that I don't see anymore.

I am planning on getting the OTT tune as soon as I can (life keeps happening), but at 1st I was driving around in S mode as I hardly get over 45-50 mph and D if higher speeds, the transmission felt much better, for the last month I have basically been in drive while using the ECT PWR (sometimes using S mode also in heavy traffic) mode and I like it much better, doesn't seem to effect the gas mileage either.. Lots of hills and curves in my area also..

So my question is (remember I still want the OTT:wink:), how much better is the tune over running in EST mode??

I am still trying to figure out which level of the tune I want... The tuner is about 45 minutes away with no traffic, so not easy to test and tune over a week or so..

    1. Tune will make shifting way better.
    2. ECT as far as i know giving you a little higher RPM's before shifting.
    3. You can choose which tune to install i've got OTT in mild\medium settings, and i use medium only under heavy load, and rarely on highways.
    4. OTT also changes MPG if you will switch to 93 (i was told so by OTT guy)
and OTT is way better than ect. i gave it a shot because i changed tires for 255\85\16 and each tire is 20lbs heavier than stock... and after installation acceleration was weird

OTT is by far the best mod I have done to my truck. 10K miles plus on it - no issue and always a smile on my face. I have mine on medium for regular driving and spicy when i hit ECT. Love it. I think other tunes are probably very good too. the broader point here, IMHO, is that Toyota has built a lot of unlocked potential into these trucks to have great longevity and EPA stats when in stock form. Tuning seems to be like a cheat code.

I have to second this. The tune is such a night and day difference that I really question whether or not Toyota made the right decision to cripple these trucks for whatever benefit they deemed worthy.

The differential noise on my truck came back after a few hundred miles. Hopefully yours doesn't do the same!

    Atmosphere ftw.

The track information showed up after I swapped out the headunit to the Pioneer DMH-WC6600NEX, as did the factory compass option (though it doesn't actually display anything). I believe it is something that would be supported by the factory system with nav/jbl but it was cool to have that info added - I certainly wasn't expecting it.

I'd definitely start a build thread here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/3rd-gen-builds-2016-2023.196/

I've got one (see my sig) and as you make changes you can update it. Helps find what you did especially if you are giving advice to others.

I posted a few weeks ago my access cab rear seat delete. I have added a few tie down points and some milk crates to organize. One 4 gallon crate fits nice in the middle of two 6 Gallon crates. There is about an inch to spare on each side. I have the center crate bungeed in place. Using woodworking clamps seems to be the easiest way to hold the outside crates to the middle fixed one.
I am happy with how it works so far.
A person could stack another row if needed.

I am happy with my current crate capacity.
Plus it is fun to tell people that I am setup to haul 16 gallons of milk in my cab.

The clamps also double as a way to hold items. I have rebate forms and an envelope of work stickers, for example.

The milk crates came from Farmplast. Google will find it quick.

Refreshed the tonneau cover (used solution finish, tomorrow will use their sealant after this cures) Looks good as new now! You don't realize just how much plastic and rubber trim there are on these trucks until you start refreshing it all...

Let's see, I left it in the parking lot for less than 5 minutes and when I walked out I saw "landscapers" pelting the side of my truck with their yard debris and leaf blower. They refused to provide their insurance information, so I took license plate pictures, pictures of them and will file a claim with my insurance.

    Some people. :smack:
