A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
LOL... I got stuck in Sand, Mud, and Snow inside of 48hours

The sand photo is kinda not really stuck... so much as impossible. Its slicker then snow in this condition it had just rained and the arid desert sand becomes instant mud. But only a few millimeter deep. So just going slow works.

The snow i had the down hill gravity advantage. But a steep cliff on one side. So again, slipping off was out of the question. I shoveled, got stuck, shoveled... I made it 1.8 miles to the highway, only to hit conditions I said "no way not alone" backtracking 36 miles of forest service. Always fill up. No matter the price when you head out.

Utah-shaped five acres, for future cabin/barn/workshop. This is what I mowed before I went to take a picture of the ‘deep stuff’ and found that my phone was not in my jeans pocket where it had been for the last hour or so.

( Panic, search, audibly vent, search more, pack up and go home, return with family, find phone within 30 seconds. Find Friends got us within two feet. And it was in the deep stuff. )

    IMG_0049.jpg

Sharp? I just keep mowing till the tips wear off.

BTW - no Tacos were harmed during filming. The truck pulled the trailer just fine, it didn’t run out of oil, and the bell housing is still in one piece.

If anyone is curious what the "three" corners of Utah, colorado and Wyoming look like... here you go. Interesting enough you can not access this point from a truck in Utah. I didn't see a road or gate from Wyoming. The route from Colorado is next level.

DO NOT go here without load E or hard-core tires. You have to travers sharp rocks, and crawl over old sage brush about 3 miles.

A local boyscout troop made it out here a bit ago (1990) and built a cool monument. Shout out to all the boy scout dads that do this shit....

I found really amazing T-pee rings. And if your interested in arrowhead hunting. I would never ever come here.

Im also going to add this. ABSOLUTELY have a paper map. This is a hog Pog of forest service roads, country roads, trails through private property, and endless "wrong turns"..

Google was wrong, GPS was wrong, old maps the paper ones dead on.... know your rights about land use and "private property " yes they can put sighs up that say "private land" but the road is county maintenance therefore public land. Be respectful, drive slow. Ask if you see someone even if you legally don't have too. Sometimes they are amazing helping and are an ally on your quest. It never hurts asking.

Never ever let a "gate" stop you. Unless its posted and obviously private

Sure, you can go led. But what the upgrade does is illuminate the complete half circle in the lens instead of just a quarter. As for signals they are part or the reverse assembly now in yellow. So regardless of upgrading the bulbs you will never get the same attractiveness of the mod in question. I justified the cost to the inconvenience of being rearended by a nitwit. The choice was obvious. :spending:

Bummer looks like the rear bumper cap is toasted.

If your wheeling like this it's probably time for a high clearance aluminum/steel bumper..

Just order it. They offer sales all the time. At least now the resistors are included. I had to buy them separate.

I have no idea, but the kit comes with two resistors. Install both imo.

Install the other one. Hyperflashing may be intermittent instead of predictable, but can be prevented.

Extang tonneau cover finally leaked so bad I was done with it. Bought it with the truck at 14k, and was amazing for a while but eventually the vinyl cover over the metal foldable portions failed, and the adhesive just gave up the ghost and it leaked like crazy after that. Extang wouldn't warranty it since I didn't buy it lol.

Found on marketplace a brand new Undercover Ultra something whatever for less than half the MSRP, it also leaks but not NEARLY as bad as the Extang. I'm gonna seal it up with flexible rubber vapor barrier sealer when I remove it again to perfect the seal. I can't use my Factory tie downs anymore which sucks because the Extang allowed me to. It sits lower than the Extang so that's a plus. Doesn't feel as sturdy as the Extang though, I could walk on the Extang, not this one however. Overall looks as good as the Extang and that was my main goal.

ANYWAY, whoever installed the Extang needs to step away from the Allen key sockets. Three rounded out Allen fasteners and that's impressive. I had to drill one head off the bracket attached to the factory rail, and before I broke out the EZout kit, I slotted the other fastener holding the OEM bracket to the bed with my Dremel and successfully used my impact driver (manual impact btw, only used this twice before and love it every time) with a big ass flathead to get it out. Worked great. Glad I've been wrenching on Aircraft for years to help with removing fasteners. Lord have mercy.

Overall I stole the Undercover Ultra, and it's brand new but I really liked my Extang until it eventually fell apart. So hopefully I can get about another couple years out of the marketplace find. Also went to visit Tybee Island after.

Those attachment rails to mount the tonneau look identical to what Bakflip uses. Probably the same manufacturer.

I installed both, never tried it without them, not worth finding out at a bad time... Piece of mind..

They always do a 5% off (1st timer anyway) and BF will probably do a 20% off like last year, It is probably the safest best mod you can do to one of these trucks, I was on the fence about it cause I'm a cheap Bastard, but then I got behind a 3rd gen Tacoma at a red light and noticed that the turn and brake lights are dim (a joke sadly) compared to most modern cars... The VTAIL turn signals are so bright if you are in your garage at night with the lights off and hit the lock/unlock button on the Fob they will about hurt your eyes lol, crazy bright, I mean Ray Charles could see your VTAIL brake and turn signal lights after install...

I think that LEDs should be standard on anything that has TSS...

Awww yeah, the amazing impact driver, the best loosing tool in your tool box that you forget you have, it can be used for so many things.. I have used my Mac tools one to get rounded off lug nuts loose, like the F-150 trucks and such, used it to get wheel locks off with out a key also, lot of techs don't realize that you can use sockets with them... I love mine... lol

I got the camera mounted (twice lol)... Had to take it back apart to install the garnish... Had the grill out in 10 minutes, took for freaking ever to seperate the dang thing, with the chrome trim, it has to be removed 1st and it fought back, a lot, the you can remove the grill insert from the shell... PIA, but I didn't break anything... Put it back together pretty fast, had to run the screws in and out multiple times for them to self tap enough to tighten up... Then back in the truck in 10 minutes and that included going inside and asking my wife to hold the light cause I couldn't see for crap, finished at midnight... lol
But damn it look so much better without the chrome trim ring...
