I live on the west coast and I don't carry any of that, nor do I think that I need to. I would move if I felt that I needed to carry that just to drive around my town.

I took a 3 button remote out of a visor from a grand cheerokee, and installed it in the (2nd gen) tacoma visor, behind the vanity mirror, and painted the little trim piece to match color. It is powered off the vanity mirror too, so wires already in there. this reminds me I need to get one for the 3rd gen.

Getting ready for the parade route again this year for the high school dance team. Last year I used some racing seats in the back of the truck for the coaches to sit in. This takes up a ton of space to store and just is not practical. So, new version for this year uses the seats from the high school gym bleachers. Going to figure out either a backrest or some grab handles for the coaches to hang onto.

Also built two speaker stands that will put the dance speakers up in the air and point them out at the crowds.
Still need to put up some mounts for the banners. Thinking maybe just getting a roof rack to hang them from.

    Here is last years seating.

Deside to go with matte black.
Also have wife's car waxed and ceramic sprayed - oh, shining bright!IMG_2226.jpg IMG_2228.jpg

And, of course, my truck is shining, too!

OK, thanks, yeah I don't want to remove mine and it affect the aero any at higher speeds...

I did take mine out in S4 and got it up to 85mph and the rpms were only a little over 3500rpms, so the 5500rpms at 131mph makes perfect sense in my head now...
Thanks for putting up with my questions about it...

its all in self defense, honestly you just never know. id rather have these options than not have them. my entire set up is completely legal too.

Legal doesn't stop an over zealous cop from pulling their gun on you when they see yours or from making you get out then handcuffing and searching you to protect themselves while they do whatever else they feel like doing. I have nothing against people being prepared to defend themselves but de-escelation should always be the first step and weapons on display often have the effect of escalating things.

you have enough time to place it in the glove compartment and remove mag and separate them before they even decide to get down and walk up to you and what not, the gun is not stuck where its mounted. 1st thing you can also show them is your LTC, theyll feel better.

its self defense vs crazy people, not cops.

Is that to help keep larger items “captive” in the bed or for structural support, or both?

AWE Exhaust, KARTBOY exhaust hangers, custom 1/0 exhaust grounding, lots of Titanium hardware from my old builds, silly JDM bits from my old Subaru builds, Uniden Bearcat Off Road CB, Firestik 2 w/custom CF mount, custom KARTBOY plate frame with Rigid Ind Spot on ball head mount, Yakima Mega Warrior w/custom CF cross brace. ARP extended studs (not installed yet), Optima Red Top, Siless Insulation in cab. Diode Dynamics LEDs throughout... More titanium fasteners. K&N intake snorkus delete. Greddy hose clamps throughout. DBA 4000XS Brake Rotors. TRD PRO fogs. Dakine Tail Gate Pad. More to come of course.
Well the Spod finally killed my Optima. Had to buy a new one yesterday. The old one won't even come back to life after an overnight with the Battery Doctor. Barely, started the truck after the overnighter. No response from Spod yet. They were super quick last time I reached out for tech support.

<EDIT> I should note that the "born on date" is something new from Optima. I think these batteries sit on the shelf much longer than more affordable batteries and they lose "life". None of my old Optimas came with a date sticker and I've run them forever. I noticed this "loss of life" with Fire Alarm batteries I bought to keep on the shelf at my campus. They would lose "life" waiting to be installed. In some cases, less than 9 volts from a "new" 12 volt battery. I very much think that my most recent battery, that the Spod killed, was one of these shelf victims. I bought it from a local auto parts store. Not a chain but, a Mom n Pop shop and they had had it for a "very long time" according to the store manager who is a friend. The battery was always "weak" and would draw down hard on start ups. Sometimes 7 or 8 cranks to get the truck started. The Spod debacle just sealed the deal imho.

    Things I've done recently:
    1. New Pirelli Scorpion AT Plus - got 40K miles on my Falken Wildpeaks and had maybe another 10K I could have gone, but they were getting a little slippery in the rain. Discount had a $80 instant rebate on the tires which made a decent different as the Falkens were $211/tire at the time (early May). New tires made the ride so much smoother.
    2. Bought some Novus plastic scratch remover and cleaner off Amazon. Use the heavy and fine scratch remover on my instrument cluster lens - took a couple of passes but it did work quite well. Also, cleaned up the transmission position indicator plastic lens, and the infotainment screen as well. The bottles of remover, and cleaner were larger than I expected so I have plenty to repeat this as needed. Good product for $24. Wonder if I could have just used like Meguir's Scratch X plastic headlight cleaner instead?
    3. I have the Cali-raised LED catalytic converter guard installed - I posted previously about it making an annoying rattling noise in the past as the front part of the guard is not secured to the frame but just has a rubber grommet as a buffer between the guard plate and the frame. It started rattling again, and I had to replace the rubber grommet but also had to re-tighten all the bolts on both sides. Its also the source of some slight creaking noise especially when I back out of my driveway into the alley which is on a slight incline. Due to my OCD this is a constant source of frustration for me so I may just remove it entirely if I can't find a way to stop the noise.
    4. Sold my Desert Does It seat jackers on Ebay. Removed them about a year ago as I didn't like the reduction in headroom and never noticed any improvement in driving comfort.
