Do you have it wired with the Viofo hardwire kit for parking mode?

I decided the OEM roof rack needs to go. I am now in search of something for my new kayak.

OEM was fine for 5 years - carried lots of loads.

Oh no, not for me, not a chance. I know shit from shinola. @2k2 you jogged my memory. I've shined a LOT of shoes, seen a lot of scuffs, and scuffed a LOT of floors. Initially, yes, will look great, but in service after a few weeks you might want to have a look at your long shirt elbows...

I worked summers at a popular upscale private Country Club and I shined golf shoes all weekends. 4 pair of shoes tee'd off every 12 minutes from 7:30 to 12:00 noon on the front 9, and simultaneously same on the back 9, that might be about 5 * 4(shoe pairs) * 4.5 * 2 = 180(shoe pairs) every weekend day. Okay, not all 180 got shinola all the time, and I think there was another guy working the daubers and buffers along side me. But those members shoes got cleaned/shined, if they requested. Yeah there were white, brown, black, and mahogany shoe colors from what I remember, the mahogany's were really nice and always well cared for I think their owners thought they were special too. So, I noticed that shoe polish really wasn't permanent.

Initially it might look great, and I do think yours looks awesome, it looks new. Let us know if it rubs off. You also reminded me of a 'report' that got under my skin, JD Powers 'initial customer statisfaction'. Of course initially, most cars are awesome in the first 90 days, but what matters to me is the 5 - 10 year, possibly longer, satisfaction. Hehe, I always laughed and thought to myself 'who cares about IQS?'. Oh, I thought the report was 'studied' within the first 90 days, my bad.

    • J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS): This study is a significant measure of new-vehicle quality after the first 90 days of ownership. It uses "problems per 100 vehicles (PP100)" as a metric based on owner-reported problems. The 2024 IQS also incorporates repair visit data to enhance its insights. In 2024, Chevrolet ranked second among mass-market brands in this study.
    Anyway, I'm just bored, obviously.

No I used the mirror plug. I didn’t think about parking mode. Now I might change it.

I’ve got a Cross Bin 13. I’m not sure it can be slid into that position, under the center section. The Cross Bin is way deeper than the shelf shown in the OP’s post. And even if it can, DB recommends keeping it against the cab so in an emergency stop it doesn’t slam forward.

I traded mine in on a new truck. My work truck died, so I was using my Tacoma for work and it was too much for it. The Tacoma want designed to carry all the weight of tools and equipment that I was hauling in it all the time. I replaced it with a will equipped F250 Lariat. The Taco was a good little truck, but want enough truck when I was forced to take it from personal use and use it for work also.

MSRP is $89,105. I paid $80K before TTL and down payment.

Man that is one beautiful beast. Congrats on the new truck! Sounds like it was the right choice. These tacomas certainly aren’t designed to haul heavy loads.

Thanks. I bought my Tacoma to use as second vehicle, but I was forced to use it for work also. It was easier to get into and out of spots in the taco. The new truck is a little bigger and definitely takes a little more room to maneuver. The 2000 watt inverter will be much more useful than the 400 watt one in my TRD off-road.

Definitely. I was eyeing diesel trucks last year but the Tacoma is just too perfect for how I use it right now. The wife and I decided that I will keep the Tacoma for the next 10-15 years and then keep it as a trail rig. Then get a diesel and a large-ish camper to pull probably.

I wanted to keep the Tacoma, but I couldn't afford to and get a decent truck also. I've been looking for a decent used truck for awhile and just couldn't find one that wasn't over priced. The heads up display is a neat feature.

I saw they have that HUD when I was online shopping recently. That’s very cool.

That is a nice truck! I'd still like a Super Duty I saw an STX kast year I wanted super cab 8' bed 7.3 V8 I can't recall if was a 250 or 350 had the 4000w inverter lots of other options including a back up alarm so the sticker said. STX and gas it was like 66k SRP seen it go down to around 58 maybe even less. I don't need a truck that size but it sure had a lot of features. I see alot of STX being used commercially over the XL not that they are that much different other than the appearance pkg.

    Edit

I forgot to mention and I don't want to bring any negativity to your joy of getting a new ride. 2025 Super Duty recieved a recent recall for the brake pedal assembly on a limited number of trucks. I've heard of other Ford trucks having a similar brake pedal recall in the past.

I've heard about that recall. It effects some trucks built from March to marry of this year. Mine is a 2024 that's been sitting on the lot for a year, so it's not effected.

I will .. I suppose it'll be a couple months. I used very little and rubbed it in. I also hardly ever touch these areas with anything but my hand, so no elbows/arms rubbing these areas
