I see. Yeah and great idea on the surplus, nice mindset to help smooth out costs and help a brother out at the same time.

Good info. Yup, I've seen all these before too. I've been interested in these tailgate panel updates for over 5 years now. I've been waiting to see if the price comes down to closer to $100.00 - I think I would pull the trigger at that $100 point. It doesn't seem any easier now, than it did 5 years ago, to drop $200.00+ on an update that I've really gone just fine without. Hehe.

Yeah $200 for just a sheet of aluminum is a bit hard to justify. My justification was that the Mobtown on I have on my truck has reinforcing ribs pressed into it and wraps around the top so it increases the strength of the tailgate.
I use my truck for construction work and it has been holding up fine for 5 years now of daily abuse at work.

Looks good too. You've got a much better reason for that item than I do.

Actually thinking about it, when i do use my tailgate for a project, normally I have to hunt around for a level spot that I can set my tools, For example, my drill driver so that it won't fall over. Lol

If it were me, I'd hook up a scanner and watch live data to see what the ECT senser shows the coolant temp at with the engine at idle or as close to duplicating the in traffic engine rpms when the gauge needle raised up a little, maybe even put the nose of the truck up close to a wall to mimic being close behind a vehicle in traffic...

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
Nothing crazy. Just washed em up. No dirty trucks on the 4th in this yard!

Maximum flex for Toyota on the 4th!

Debadged it and gave it a wash the day before it rained

Took a picture after work yesterday.
Only thing left are wheels and an SOS lowering kit. Going to get that done next spring, for now love how it sits.

Finished the overhead storage on the MESO hexrack with some Velcro bag holders. I had bigger bags there but they hung down to low. Hard for an adult to set there with a large bag on their head. With the Velcro I can just rip it off if needed in no time and put it back after. Haven’t filled any of them yet.

Sweet, hope you do a full write up on it, I would like to lower mine about the 2"F & 3.5"R that the SOS kit lowers the truck, it still gives you about 2" from the top of a stock tire to the bottom of the fender..
I haven't found to much on lowering the 3rd gens yet... I mainly would just like to make it look more like a rwd truck vs a 4x4, still trying to figure out why Toyota thought it would be a great idea to make almost all the trucks look the same, plus it would just be easier to get in and out of as I get older...
But I don't think I will do anything until the warranty runs out... lol

    Good eye sir!! ;)
