What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Guys, anyone remember the post in this thread where the guy uses a gallon or 5gallon jug of gear oil to fill his difs? He said he inserted a couple hoses through the cap and used gentle compressed air to squirt the oil into the dif? Tia. I searched, didn't find.

 

Typically for the lower ball joints put a pry bar under the tire and pick up on it feeling for any movement, doesn't take much, the uppers can be felt by grabbing the tire at roughly 10 and 3 position...
BTW, sometimes it helps to have someone helping, either looking for movement IF they understand what they are looking at, or doing the other while you are looking...

A trick if you are unsure if you have a loose wheel bearing or b-joint, watch for movement between the caliper bracket and rotor for movement, sometimes you can put your finger against both feeling for a "pinch"...

Good suggestions. I've tried under the tire, all seems tight.

I get one clunk, seems to be passenger front, every now and then, could be in reverse coming to a stop, or on a slow turn like in a parking lot coming out of parking space I don't remember exactly how. But it is there, and I'm starting to think that somewhere, a BJ, tie-rod end, coilover, something is making that clunk. Was just trying to track it down, it's not a dealbreaker and I'll keep looking for it from time to time...

 

Replacing the entire suspension. The old suspension did not want to come off without a fight. Many parts rusted beyond all recognition, thanks to the NH winters, and prior owners neglect. Almost every bolt and bushing was seized and had to be cut off. Now I need to rust proof the undercarriage.

I love his vids but I find after about 5 minutes in and rocking like it's a Taylor Sheridan Cliffhanger, I can just skip to the end and see what the results are.
