Damn that looks good, do yours come all the way down, or curve into the bumper cut? I was thinking about just cutting straight along that body line without a curve.

I cut my curve quite a bit more open than most.

Yea that looks clean. I'll probably viper mine later, I'll stick with this for now, and if I really feel some type of way down the line, I'll do it. Now that I've cut it once, I've got the nerves out of my system lol

Harbor Freight's Badland 12k is possibly the best bang for your buck. Has the same mounting hole pattern as Warn. They have sales on them fairly frequently, I think they were on sale last weekend, actually. They have a 10% coupon this weekend, which isn't quite as good a price, but still isn't bad.

Yea, I've been looking at those, I also saw rough country makes a 12k one and it's $400, not sure on the quality of that one, but I've used RC parts before.

I'm not a fan of Rough Country. The Badland has a wireless remote, which is a good thing...gets you further away from the winch line in case something goes sideways.

Pictures do this hill no justice. It was a hard pull up. Four of the seven on the trip had Badland winches...all performed flawless:

Yea, I'll probably just save up a bit and get the badlands. I've seen a few on MP for almost half price, some even claiming only used once.

Following the tip from Team Oil Drop, I replaced the 12mm bolts holding the skid plate with M8 x 20mm thread star knobs for easy removal and reinstallation during an oil change.

K I need some sage advice from the folks here.
I got almost 40k miles on my Toyota ATIII tires and they’ve performed flawlessly up until lately the rears will break loose when I stomp it to jump out into traffic. I think this is due to the middle lugs losing part of the siping. They have 8/32’s left on the treads and although that doesn’t seem like that big a deal, I drive on the assertive side. I demand a lot from my truck to get me where I need to go with no nonsense. Anyhoo, we got an El Nina winter coming up and I’m contemplating getting the BFG KO3’s I been wanting. Also, I live in Western Washington and it gets a lot of rain. These tires are great in the rain but they been losing tread since the half life and I don’t need any issues during my commutes. Or do I risk another winter on these?

There’s plenty of life left in those! Your right. But I’m a pain in the ass that gets something in my head and won’t let it go until I deal with it. I drive mostly highway and have always kept good rubber on my rigs so I can get home safely to my family. I usually change tires late summer or fall after the heat of the summer has worn them down. What say you?

K03's do alright in the rain from my experience. Not wonderful, not terrible. If you hit deep puddles on the road they really suck, but I'd imagine most tires do at that point. They're much heavier than the Toyo At3's in 265/70/16 D range. Some downsides to that.

edit: You've got 265/70/17. I think you can get C rated K03's. I'd recommend those.

I’m looking at a set of C’s and they’re 46 # ea. around 4 # more than my Toyos but if they last as long as my experience with KO2’s I’m good with it.

What is the last 4 of the DOT number on them??

To me, it has been safety 1st when it comes to tires, I always buy great wet weather tires, but if your tires are no longer doing what you ask of them, then the amount of tread left is moot...

Yes and no, production was the 5th week of the year of 2023... 1st 2 numbers are the week of the year, and as you guessed, the last 2 are the year... Well at least since 2000, 1999 and older ran a 3 digit instead of 4, you only new the week and the last number of the year, so a 059, could have been the 5th week of 1979 or 1989, or 1999...

Your tires have not aged out, just lost it's traction somewhat...
