That is the great thing about the 3rd gen. No matter what your taste it is hard to find a bad color/chromed/blacked combination. They all look good. Out of all the trucks I have seen on this forum there are no more than 2 or 3 that don't look great to me. And that doesn't matter. All I care about is how mine looks to me. There are not many body styles, like these, that you can mod to your specific taste and that is the great thing about our trucks. Just because I like some chrome does not mean I wouldn't own a blacked out version. And maybe after a few years mine just might be blacked out. So my taste is meaningless to others. I have seen blacked out blue trucks that look better than my chromish blue truck.

 

My crutchfield order was delivered today, tweeters come in wed. Hoping this goes quick too! I got the 80mil, figured while I was at it might as well toss some in.

The spacers will give the 285s enough spacing to the outside to clear the UCAs once lifted. Multiple owners have done this with no rubbing

Back when Kurt 1st started racing and had Rubbermaid as a sponsor I called him "Rubberhead" I never liked him then. Now since he has went thru several wives it seemed to drive some sense in his head and he has mellowed out. I still don't and never will like his brother kyle "Shrub" busch.

Totally agree. I saw that apology. Larson kept a pretty cool head even though it killed his chances. Kyle would never apologize like that. Kurt does have a better demeanor these days. There are a few good young drivers now. Keeps me interested. It was lame for a few years. My brother and I, along with some coworkers, used to buy block tickets to a lot of tracks back in the mid 80's thru the late 90's from Dover to Talladega. I used to help manage a machine shop about a mile from Pettys shop in the mid 90's. Had a ton of shops locally and was a race fans dream. Used to see Mark Martin at least once a week in the convenience store. Rousch had shops in Liberty so we always went there. One of our machinists twin brother was the Rousch machinist there. One of our machine shop partners was Richard Pettys cousin. Another one of our machinist had a side business making NASCAR header plates. Caraway speedway was in town so we got to see Adam Petty and Earnhardt Jr race there all the time. Was a great time. Wish I was still there.

 

No. I remove the straps it came with and added 4 straps from REI - 2 around the headrests and 2 around the baby seat brackets at the bottom.

love the new backing plate for the control mount. Their attention to detail is unreal. Part of why I love those guys so much.

 

@JerryTaco do you happen to have any sort of install guide? The switch-pros one is predominantly Jeep-leaning...I also got the upgraded relay kit and I am not really sure what I am going to use it for.

 

Every once and awhile I get this wild hair about A Cold Air Intake. I know Gen 3’s have one. I just feel there is something more. I was surfing Tacoma World and found this.

Instead of spending $450 on the TRD CAI, replace the parts that turn the factory CAI into a TRD CAI. I already got the TRD filter last October. So I bought the Intake Flow Accelerator ($25 from ToyotaPartsDeal.com). The intake is much bigger and not blocked by the mud deflector

Step 1

Remove Air filter and access and pull 3 bolts to remove the Air Box.



Step 2

Scruntch (technical term) the Intake Flow Accelerator so it looks like this. Place the Intake Flow Accelerator in the hole in the fender with the thin slot facing up.

Place the Air Box on the Intake Flow Accelerator and bolt it in. Replace the Filter. Cut out the charcoal filter from the upper air box as you want. Close Up shop.



Step 4

Finish with some home brewed Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee. I use to drink Starbucks bagged coffee. The Dunk is cheaper and…

Toyota is pretty easy. One of the wires you'll tap into the headlights, another will be run into the cab and tapped into the fuse panel with supplied tap. You can OM me if you want and I can give you a run through. Pretty simple though. As for the relay, I have that too but haven't had the time to wire it up yet. Really you'll only need it for anything drawing more power than the Switchpro is capable of supporting on its own. I currently have to run a separate micro relay for my Onyx6 Hi-Power but other than that, that's the only thing my setup needs a relay for. Switch 8 is a high output switch and most often used for air compressors.

 

Sounds good. SDHQ just emailed me a tacoma-specific wiring pdf. Those guys really are the best.

 

oh right on!! They really are. I've been going there since I had my 2012 Tacoma and they have never been short of amazing. They've really built a name for themselves around here as a premier off-road shop and for good reason. Most definitely. Out of curiosity, where did you go through the firewall to connect it all? And did you just tap into the stock fusebox for power/light inputs?

 

the rubber grommet that all the factory wiring goes through. I have a fancy tool for the job that makes short and easy work of it but the same can be accomplished by tapping the wires to the end of a long flat screw driver or glow rod if you happen to have one of those.

power went into the factory fuse panel but the switched light source(yellow wire i believe) got tapped into the purple wire(I think) for the running lights at the headlight.
