Not sure the price to go this route, but I made the dealer turn off me seatbelt chime. It takes them 5 min and cost me nothing.

They were hesitant at first, but I reminded them the massive amount of money I've spent at their dealership... They quickly complied! :D

Any ODB adapter will work as long as it's compatible with your phone from my understanding. Some are Android only or iOS only. The app itself is $20 to make changes. It's an in app purchase. Ultimately, you can use it with any car and the OBD adapter will work with my phone, I had the adapter which was like $20 on eBay. The app, I'll go around setting up my friends/families cars and if they toss me a couple $'s to do it, that'll easily make up for the initial cost.

It literally took me 5 minutes from install to changes, it's so easy and no plug in seatbelt work arounds, or hacking involved.

    Thanks for the info!

Just so I understand, the in app purchase is a one time purchase? After that, I can use it on any car for free or do I have to pay with each new vehicle?

Also owning the OBD adapter and the app will let you look up any faults you may have in the future from the ECU, as well as download any OBD app that also lets you watch stats about your truck in real time, like temps, Speed, RPM, etc. It's really nice for keeping track of your truck. I use "Dash" with it, it keeps track of the efficiency of my truck every drive I make, and it tells me how efficient my drive was, etc. What's nice, is I can keep tabs on if there are any issues. If all of a sudden I notice my MPG dropping or temps going up, etc, it's easy to tell why. When I get my lift and tires, or my tonneau I just ordered, I can see what effects it has in real time as well.

I have used it with two vehicles, and it was not tied to the original in my case.

What options does this allow you to change? Their website lists the Tacoma as not supported.

Yep, mentioned that in my original post that it wasn't supported officially. There are a lot of options and without being connect (at work right now) I can't take screenshots to show them all. Nothing is huge, you can't make changes to engine timing, shift points, or anything like that, but common things like door locks, interior light duration, door chime, lock beeps (i turned my volume down when you hit the lock button the external beep is now muted), all those kind of things.

Check on the not an official Toyota thread. I apparently was fooled since the sites copyright update date states it is current as of 2016.
    Thanks for the heads-up.

Since purchase 3 weeks ago, I have added the following:

    - OEM mudflaps
    - OEM tube steps
    - OEM bed extender (older design one--had to track a new one down)
    - OEM bed mat
    - OEM exhaust tip (I know..)
    - 30% front window tint
    - Reflective tailgate decal

Waiting on the 'updated' bed cover, or the Extang Solid Fold 2.0.

I bought this primarily as my family daily driver and occasional motorcycle hauler. I have owned 4 trucks in my life, and this is my 3rd toyota truck. Never have nor wanted 4WD where I live. :)

    Vehicle:
    2016 Tacoma Limited
2016 Sky Silver Limited 4x4 double cab with tow package & every other option

Only have around 700 miles on her and aside from the usual "a bit too eager to shift/loving to run at low rpms - waiting for the ecu to learn my preferences, or just hit ETC when needed" observation...

    So far:
Upgraded all interior lights to LED VLEDs
Upgraded head lights (HID), fog lights and high beams (LEDs) all Morimoto
Upgraded back up and license plate lights to LED VLEDs
Auto start (Compustar/Drone Mobile) and also uses OEM Toyota key fob
    WeatherTech floor mats
    Center console divider
Window tinting on moon roof - 30%
Complete coating of Fluid Film underneath
    Complete interior detailing
Valentine 1 rear view mirror mount and integrated wiring

Awaiting warmer weather to install flat black "TACOMA' tail gate lettering and complete exterior detailing

    For next year:
I was surprised how easy it was to break the rear loose when we had about 2~3 inches of snow (damn fun though playing around in a large open parking lot :woot:)
A couple of sand bags in the bed over the rear axle along with some Blizzak tires should readily fix that.

Looks great! I personally am not a fan of those steps, but to each their own. I also bought the OEM bed mat. It was a great purchase.

Congrats on the new truck! I've been slowly adding a ton of creature comforts and exterior mods since I bought the truck! It's a great feeling to add things that make the truck your own!

Most of those options are configurable in your headunit, exept seatbelt chime. For that you need techstream or dealer.

Yeah I know. I'm asking cause the things I wanted to change can't be done through the head unit otherwise I would have done it already
