What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I went aluminum for the lightweight. Don't do hardcore of reading but I do drive in deep snow. Helps push the snow down and you never know what's underneath.

 

I agree. I even have a LineX dealer in a town near me and I may have the aluminum skid coated in that too.

 

I don't do any real hardcore off
roading it's my daily driver. But it's also my hunting and fishing transportation and some of the places I go can be pretty dicey especially some of the places in NW Co. Buffalo Pass comes to mind right off. I'm talking rough! Usually washed out to some degree and it's boulders when it's not filled in and I'm not talking rocks. From the Steamboat side it's very rough getting to Teal Lake. The long way around is much better driving but it takes over twice as long, around an hour vs a half hour. If you have ever been UP Buff Pass you know what I'm talking about. I plan on moving to the Steamboat area once I retire so fishing Teal or Tiago is a concern and that's just one area, there are many more that can be just as challenging. For me it works both in Co. as well as here in New England.

Yes, i am some how familiar with dealing with electrical/electronics but by far not an expert.. and also a bit handy .... The process seems pretty straight forward, and with caution i should be able to tackle it.. Thanks for the tips, they sure help a lot.. Cheers

 

Got my Headstrong stage 2 Fox suspension put in, swapped out wheels and tires, and made my Rake-a-saurus-Rex MGM happen. More mods to come.

I've got about 1.7 inches of rake now. Holy smokes. Think those Medium Duty Dakars did me dirty. Btw driveway is not even, as it slopes downward toward my camera.

I don't even do that much off-roading. I have more of a pavement princess than you, but I want to have the confidence that if I do need to go somewhere rough, I can.

Plus, I think the RCI skid looks cool and I don't care what anyone else thinks.

Mines a pavement princess over 95% of the time as well so you're not alone but it sure is nice to have what you need when you need it.
I like the look better over most of the other skids as well and the lighter weight will be a better option for my commute to and from work. I'm not saying it's the best choice for everyone but I believe it'll be the best choice for me.

 

Just checked out their webpage. Looks like some great gear.

The aluminum is appealing, too....once you consider all the plates added together.

That valve looks like a real time saver, too.

I think the Fumoto Valve in conjunction with a short piece of hose is a great idea for our kind of filter change. Sure looks to be a much easier and cleaner way to swap out that paper element. The spin off filter arrangement is one of the things I really miss from my 2nd gen.
The wingnut that designed that pseudo skid that you had to remove when doing an oil change needs to find another line of work!

I simply don't understand the whole arrangement.

Could've been so much more user friendly.

 

I also had no issues getting the TSB done in FL, despite the "high altitude" mentioned in the TSB. My Taco is mostly stock. The only change in the drive train I have made is exhaust, mostly to help another member on TW, and I am quite pleased with the result. Truck post TSB drives so much better now.

I used Bev Smith in Fort Pierce, they have treated me right and seem to work at giving "quality service". Clearly they want to pull in service work. Though I will say the service was not fast, took about 1.5 hours in and out.

 

Thanks all for the compliments, prevents me from trying to fix something that ain't broke. Critiques welcome too.
