What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Today I was able to get the DMM installed. Instead of their mounts I used some from TACHFORM
Their arms and their Cell Phone mount is top notch and holds the phone really well while still being one hand in and out.

I also have that cover. I like it so far. What issues have you heard?

 

Before I bought it I read that people were complaining about really bad leaks. After installing mine, I can kinda see how it may leak at the tailgate. I've adjusted it over and over and still saw spots where water could seep in. I'm not expecting to be 100% water tight since I mainly bought it for security for our camping gear, but I also don't want our stuff soaking wet. We're supposed to be getting some rain here next week so guess I'll find out.

I bought mine with it already installed. I guess I never expected it to be water tight. It’s a truck bed, it’s made to get wet. I can see why people would want something to keep it water tight though. I notice water in there after I take it to the car wash, but that’s some decent horizontal force, so it’s understandable.

 

You're right for the most part but people do get problems with it because of the rain and whatnot. Its a nice thing to have for peace of mind but does kinda look shotty because it doesn't really "flow" well with the grill.

 

Like @SpicyTaco99 said, lots of water leaks. Also heard someone can lift up the back pretty easy around 6" and just grab whatever they want. If someone really wants to get into your cover, they will find a way no matter which model it is, however being able to lift it that much and reach your hand doesn't sound good for security. Thinking of going with BAKflip MX4, but also hearing about leaking with that one, and being able to easily open it with a coat hanger. I also don't want to drill a hole in the bed for drainage.

I had a cheap $100ish soft top rollup on my 2011 Tacoma which never leaked so it's hard to pay $800+ for one that does leak.

After hours and hours of research I think the new Leer HF350M is going to be the way to go since it sounds like it has everything I'm looking for. It's just impossible to find online since it's new (not even on Leer's site), so I have to make some calls on Monday...

I know what you mean about someone being able to lift the back up. I noticed that when I lifted it to test the snugness, but it only lifted about 1-2 inches. However, you're supposed to adjust the spring's tension by turning the lever. I found that out from a YouTube video. It shortens the length and once it snaps in it's on pretty tight. If I lift up very hard, I can maybe slide my pinky in. Even if they were able to lift it up 6", they wouldn't be able to pull anything out unless I was hauling a bed full of action figures lol. But you're right, if someone wants to break in they'll find a way (just like a house or inside the cab of your truck), but at least it'll deter them or make it difficult for someone as opposed to having a soft cover or nothing at all.

 

I hear ya. You can adjust how much “lift” it has on the back. If you want a 1/4” play, you can adjust it that way just by screwing latches tighter.

 

Got my Relentless Fab cross bars. I got the tall version adds 4 inches and got the 2 tabs added and highlift with quick fist plates. Needs to get powder coated, going with satin black.

 

Took the dash apart to remove my Lower Switch Panel



I have some other mods to do while I’m at it so I just removed it all. You could also complete this mod with the Panel still in place but I wanted to use my OEM Lower Switch Panel - 3 Switch Hole Panel to cut vs my OEM Lower Switch Panel - 5 Switch Hole Panel. If I’m going to sell one of them in the future, it would most likely be the 5 Switch Hole Panel over the 3 Switch Hole Panel. Therefore, I needed to actually remove the whole thing from my Dash. I removed all of my Accessory Switches from the 5 Switch Hole Panel and installed them into my NEW ME-SO Customs Lower Switch Panel - LSP7W - 6 Switch Hole + Rear Window Panel



I also installed my Carbon Fiber Decals as well.





After I completed this, since I had to remove my Driver’s Side Cubby Panel, I also switched that out at the same time for my NEW ME-SO Customs Cubby Switch Panel - CPSP - 3 Switch Hole + Flush Mounted SwitchPro 9100 OOS Panel





For the completed look, I installed my Carbon Fiber Decals on the NEW Panel. I think the Carbon Fiber came out looking extremely nice.



This will be my final switch that will be going in on Monday, January 14th.
