you were right. It has gotten louder but again, like you said, it’s perfect. No obnoxious drone but still can tell what the engine it’s doing a lot better.

Installed a new radio to replace the crappy OEM one. Sounds way better, even on the stock speakers. Oh, and apple CarPlay finally!

Kudos to @crashdb for a stellar deal.

Yup! It's a good unit, but if you want Wireless Carplay (Apple), the newer version (Pioneer AVH-W4500NEX) has it. Aside from that, there are no differences between the one I have and the newer unit. What's nice is the unit comes with a mini-boost to the sound, so max volume on the old OEM is like 45-50% on the 4200NEX. Really brings out the sound in the stock speakers, which surprised me they had more power to them.

The unit I bought from from Crashdb included the Maestro Datalink (https://maestro.idatalink.com/product/product/product_id/102). This provides OEM wheel controls and access to the ECU for the typical details (fuel economy, tire pressure, etc) but it also included WAY more features as well. The maestro also lets you configure the wheel controls to your own preferences, which is pretty nice as well. If you have OEM parking sensors, back-up camera, or heated seats the system also has options to adjust that as well.
