What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

There have already been great write-ups on doing this so I’ll spare you all the install details. What I can tell you are the results of the 3-day project (my OCD prevented this from taking less time). I used a sound level meter to measure noise before and after the project. Conditions were 65mph on the same stretch of highway, A/c system on AUTO and running at a low speed (barely audible), radio off, with all windows closed.
Before was 66-71 dB
After was 63-67 dB

This is a 3-4 dB reduction which doesn’t sound like much but if I’m doing my math right it’s 30-37% quieter. To my ear, the difference is significant and as an added bonus a passenger door rattle that came from the factory has also been cured.

While I had everything apart, I did @MESO puddle pods and turns:


...and a custom switch panel also from @MESO.


...and yes there will be a Switch-pros there soon. Until then I used some foam as a filler (it turns out that even MESO’s packaging is highly useful).

This puts all the backlit Toyota switches on the same row (inverter switch isn’t unless it’s on and even then just a green/amber status light).

How much of an improvement did you get with the FM signal? would like to know what parts you used?

A/C drain mod redirect... After 10k you could already see that the drop was going to do damage over time.

 

Nope it's the uptopoverland truss mid rack. I love it, all aluminum just over 30 pounds and you dont need to spend a tun of extra money on mounting brackets for common accessories like maxxtraxx or rotopax. It feels pretty solid so far.

I definitely will. I've always gone aftermarket with head units, component systems, and subs so I'm anxious myself to see well the dash and door speaker swap outs and stock head unit do. I will eventually add a sub (or two) and improve other things all around, probably including an aftermarket head unit as well.

 

I plan on going further with mine too. An aftermarket headunit and a sub are in my future. Right after new wheels and tires.

Changing out the tweeters made for a bigger improvement than the door speakers.

 

I have replaced all my speakers with Infinity. I started upgrading my sound amplification last fall but had to stop due to winter. Going to finish this spring.

 

Yes.. I bought a lot of aftermarket parts from them for my 99 Tacoma back in the day.. I live in SoCal so i went to the store to pick it up and it felt like a kid in a candy store every time i went..

 

Got my AC Drain mod done today

Got bored the other day so i decided to order every TUFSKINZ red accent to see what it would look like. I thought it would look way overkill. It does. I ended up taking off the big ones on the steering wheel and the piece above the gauge cluster. Left the rest for now. Might remove the one around the shift knob also

So if anybody was wondering thats what it looks like
