I saw a thread somewhere on here about setting up chalk bags in this spot for large water bottles and thought I might be able to put some old surplus pouches to use as saddlebags.

It's not symmetrical on both sides due to the locking tabs being in different spots, but offers a little more space for storage for smaller things. It does leave a slight gap depending on the thickness of the MOLLE straps.

Created a heat shield and wrapped the pipe near the new 32” spare so I could store it worry free until I can afford a tire carrier bumper.9074F7C7-CEDD-4100-8082-66DF4809EDDC.jpg 3F46B67F-B592-49ED-A04E-F88A9E186F9D.jpg

Thanks for the info. Glad you're happy with it. I'm assuming that you got your new setup complete with new springs and that the spacer lift was with the stock springs, correct? Mine is still stock and trying to figure what to expect.

Where do you guys get your suspension, lift, wheel and tire know how. I'm trying to pick up as much knowledge as I can but I admit I'm still as befuddled as I ever was. o_O

I came up with a fix that has worked for 3 years. I did a side pull with an extra mount to move the exhaust away from the spare towards the passenger side. See post 61775 at https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-3rd-gen-today.399305/page-3089#post-15757239

Welp, it's not just you. I've read everything I could find on the subject and it seems to me that no matter how much theory one knows, there's still a lot of cut-and-try. To complicate matters, some things, like ride quality and handling, are subjective. I could copy someone else's setup, which worked well for that person, and find it totally unacceptable not only because of personal tastes, but also because of slight variations in the parts being used or subtle differences between the two trucks.

Ideally, there would be a nearby shop that does A LOT of custom suspension work and they would have a handle on which components would achieve what for your particular vehicle based on having lots of experience with both the parts and vehicles (and they'd be ethical enough to not just sell you the most expensive of everything).

Would you like to hear about the suspension parts I have up for sale? All have low, low miles. ;)

Thanks, I had to drill it out from stock as stock was cut for the NMO mount. This is an SO-239 base mount to accept PL-259 based antennas. Antenna is just a China made 5/8th on VHF antenna that was a certain length so as not to hit the garage door going in or out. Got a Btech 25X2 radio for mobile use. Don't really want an HF rig in the truck.

Installed the Taco Garage Dashtop Multi-Mount. Easy-peasy, takes about 30 mins, maybe 45 if you're as OCD as me. The fit and finish are impressive.TC's Youtube video suggests a #10 drill bit. I used a 3/16 and it was just microns smaller than the screws - so they fit nice & snug. Your experience may vary. You can see in the install pics, the product matches the dash trim lines perfectly, very clean. Installed, there's no way to tell it's there. The two screw heads you see in the last picture are the positioning screws for the install, placeholders so I don't lose them - they don't need to be there. Nice job Taco Garage. Dash Mount 1.jpg

I used Dawn dish-washing soap "this" time because I "wanted" to strip what wax was there off and I applied new wax after drying it off. It is only 6 months old so it has only had one coat of the Spray Hybrid Ceramic wax on it. Then I had a rock damage spot fixed on drivers side which had left the drivers side un-waxed as it all got sanded and painted on that side door area and then I replaced the bed stickers 2 weeks ago and that area was cleaned with alcohol so no wax there either. So it was time for a fresh coat of the new Hybrid Ceramic Wax. Man it went on easy and comes off just as easy.
