Sub would be sweet but it would mean deeper into the rabbit hole I go... is there a small and cheap amp that would help boost the power from the HU?

For one thing, Kickers are not the "only game in town". Personally I have installed Infinity in my Tacoma, Forte5-SX and my pop-up camper. Initially the Infinity speakers in the Taco did sound better overall but it took a few months to break them in and the base response did improve. Then after reading several posts about improving base I decided to insulate the area around the speakers. That really improved the base. I have also sound deadened just about every plastic panel in the truck which has reduced road noise and improved the acoustics in the truck.

That was one of the first scenes filmed for the movie on the backlot in Culver City. They burnt a lot of old sets, then built the mansion and train station in the same area.

    Thanks for your input...

Newb here :) Speakers break in?

I bought the kickers pretty much from reviews on crutchfield and here. Im in HI, so no options to sound test or buy really.

Did you upgrade anything else apart form the speakers? Thanks!

I installed an Alpine powerpak in mine, but a lot of people like the Kicker Key. They are mini amps that you can install behind the HU.

    This explains what I mean.

I have also replaced the tweeters but I went with a set of Bose tweeters and retrofitted them into the OEM housing. The 2nd pic shows the OEM tweeter and the Bose retrofitted.

I vaguely remember reading that. My mom used to have a coffee table book with all sorts of info on the movie. I don't have the same interest as she does/did. I attempted to read the ACTUAL book when I was younger, but just couldn't get into it (and this was before I saw the movie). But I like the movie. Just not something I'm gonna sit down and watch on a whim lol.

Recently added sound deadening to the entire rear wall and rear floor area. I had done just the area where the platform/wall rear seat delete was, but it was still a bit louder so i did a full layer of each type and also built/catpeted a triangle plug for the hole from the platform to behind the seats. Forgot to take a pic of that...

Lastly, re-did the way the fridge is strapped down. This is WAY more secure, and it doesn’t budge a millimeter.

Only 2020's are prewired for the new bed lights.
2016-2019 do not have the holes in the bed to snap them in place.
Prior years have to cut a hole, which there is no template for, and tap into the correct wires.

Thanks! I pretty much only listen to iTunes via phone via cable/apple car play. I feel like a small amp is the way forward. I'm going to try to find something just to power the door speakers and specifically put more power to the rears. Someone mentioned an alpine power pack to go behind the HU, so going to research that or something similar...

How was the install on the OEM tailgate lock for the 2020? Was it plug and play or did it require running wires from tailgate into the cab like the pop n lock kit?

I did it. Its pretty straight forward. Instructions are very clear and its not hard to follow them. I did it in 1/2 hour.

It is plug and play, but yes you need to run the harness along the frame and up through a unused grommet and connect the new harness to the harness inside the passenger footwell.

Nice! No problems whatsoever with them for the year you've had them? Been looking at them for awhile now...might be time to pull the trigger

    Stock so far, lol!
Has anyone had one of these on for any length of time and then removed it to know what the aftermath is? Wonder if it will leave a mark or discolor the paint in that area at all?? I like the way they look, the unknown scares me though, LOL!

I did the Subaru tweeters and Kicker front and rear speakers, but also added the Kicker Key amp and hideaway sub. For me, it’s perfect. All purchased from Crutchfield and I had them do the amp and sub install (live an hour away from them).

I felt the same way after adding the tweeters, Kicker 6x9 and 6.75 to the doors. I don’t really hear the back door speakers at all. I had zero bass. I was not happy with the sound after spending $300.

I added an 8” Kicker Hideaway under the drivers seat and everything came alive. I was considering adding the kicker key amp but now I don’t think it’s needed after adding the sub. I went from being a little disappointed in the sound quality after the door speaker upgrade to being 100% happy with the sound after the sub.
